Britney Spears Lip-Syncing At Vegas Show: Sia’s ‘Perfume’ Vocals Dominate In Latest Snafu

It looks like Britney Spears was lip-syncing yet again in her Las Vegas show, and this time it was shared via an Instagram post that naturally has gone viral. While this is hardly the first time, and likely not the last time, that Spears has been seen lip-syncing, this incident seemed a bit more obvious than some.

As Billboard notes, a recent Las Vegas show performance had Britney Spears singing the song “Perfume.” The issue, however, is that many attendees heard Sia’s vocals rather than Britney’s. While Sia is credited on Britney’s hit, as a writer, her vocals are certainly not what fans paid big money to hear at Spears’ Vegas show. Billboard even showcased side-by-side videos of Sia versus Britney on the song, and it does seem pretty clear which performer’s voice was prominent during the Vegas show caught on video.

The site notes that “most likely, Spears uses Sia’s track as a in-monitor guide when she sings,” adding, “Only this time it was put into the house mix, making for an embarassing accident.” This one may be a bit embarrassing, but this is hardly the first Britney Spears lip-syncing incident to make waves.

As the Daily Mail noted earlier this year, Spears had an incident where the lip-syncing was blatantly obvious. The singer was walking and waving to a fan when the lyrics to “Alien” began. Unfortunately for Britney, she wasn’t singing yet. There have been other incidents of Spears being caught lip-syncing during her Vegas shows as well.

Of course many of Britney’s fans simply don’t care, and at this point, they shouldn’t be terribly surprised that she’s lip-syncing some, or much, of her show. Her manager recently toldMedium that to put on the show she does, “it’s virtually impossible to sing the entire time and do what she does.” He added, She’s singing on every song, basically, when she has the ability to sing.”

Is Britney Spears’ Las Vegas show so intense that there’s no way she could do it without a lot of lip-syncing? That is probably debatable, but it doesn’t look like she’s feeling the need to make any changes. She’s not the first performer to rely heavily on lip-syncing, and she’s surely not the last. As some fans point out, this is nothing new for her and really, anybody expecting anything different from a show may be a bit out of touch. Should fans be annoyed by Britney Spears’ lip-syncing at her Vegas shows?
