Sam Shepard Arrested For Drinking Driving


Actor and playwright Sam Shepard was arrested Saturday for drink driving.

Shepard’s blood alcohol was twice the legal limit and he was going 16 mph over the 30 mph speed limit while passing through Bloomington, Illinois.

He told police he was traveling to his home in Kentucky, but had stopped for a small drink along the way.

Shepard has appeared in films including The Right Stuff, The Notebook and Blackhawk Down. His plays include True West, A Lie of the Mind, and Buried Child, the latter earning him a Pulitzer Prize. His most recently received a 2008 SAG nomination for ‘Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries’ for his performance as Frank Whiteley in Ruffian.
