Will Nicki Minaj Butt Out Miley Cyrus For Most Outrageous VMA Performance?

MTV announced earlier this week that Nicki Minaj will be performing ‘Anaconda’ at the Video Music Awards Sunday, August 24, and if her performance is as racy as the cover art, Miley Cyrus might have some serious competition in the “cover the kid’s eyes” department.

Nicki’s risqué ‘Anaconda’ cover art, released last month, prominently featuring her rather bountiful booty clad in nothing but a tiny thong, made quite a stir among both fans and critics. The racy cover seemed to do the job, though – Minaj’s newest release from her upcoming third album, The Pinkprint, debuted last week at #19 on the Billboard Top 100 charts. According to Billboard, the full album will be released sometime in the fourth quarter.

The Inquisitr reported that Minaj defended the nearly naked cover art by asking how it was any more inappropriate than a Sports Illustrated swimsuit model.

Last year, Cyrus had jaws dropping and tongues wagging (pun intended) when she joined Robin Thicke onstage during his performance of ‘Blurred Lines.’ The former Disney star, clad in a flesh-tone plastic bikini, caused quite the scene by shoving her rear into Thicke’s crotch, twerking, touching herself in inappropriate places with a giant foam finger, and giving her best Mick Jagger impression.

Miley even made a copy-cat pic of Nicki’s cover art and posting it as her Twitter profile picture. According to EOnline, Minaj slammed the “Hanna Conda” parody by posting, “Give me one good reason why Miley made this her twitter avi.”

So will Nicki be able to outdo Miley at the VMAs this year? If the lyrics and cover art of her new song are any indication, yes, she can. Anaconda heavily samples Sir Mix-A-Lot’s hit, ‘Baby Got Back,’ complete with the now famous line, “Oh, my God, Becky, look at her butt.” Nicki’s fans are certainly hoping they get a chance to see hers.

The official ‘Anaconda’ video won’t be released until August 20, but Minaj released an animated version of the raunchy song earlier this week. Nicki raps the lyrics of the song, as fonts, animations, and close-ups of butts flash across the screen. Despite the teaser video, her fans are still clamoring for the real thing.

What do you think? Will Nicki Manaj give us something to talk about Monday morning, or will she play it safe?
