Walt Disney CEO Takes ALS Ice Bucket Challenge, Nominates Robert Downey Jr. (Shirtless Inside!) And Others

Yesterday, Walt Disney CEO Bob Iger became one of the latest to take the ice bucket challenge for ALS awareness. However, like most celebs participating in the social media viral fundraiser, he didn’t exactly follow the rules, and the ALS Association is probably glad.

The challenge, described in full at the ALS Association’s website here, is simple: Donate to the ALS association, or have a bucket of ice water dumped over you. Record the challenge, and pass it on by nominating others (The Walt Disney CEO was nominated by Apple CEO Tim Cook). The people you nominate get to choose: they can make a donation, or they can record themselves having ice water dumped on their heads, and pass the challenge on.

Of course, most celebrities are doing it both ways: posting viral videos of themselves participating in the cold, wet part of the challenge (see a shirtless Ansel Elgort take the challenge here, and see Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos put the challenge to Star Trek actors here) but still cutting a check.

When Bob Iger took the challenge yesterday afternoon, the Walt Disney CEO was no exception to that:

The Disney representative takes the icy water stoically, but not before nominating three more celebs to take the challenge: First, Olivia Pope, a fictional character on ABC’s Scandal, played by Kerry Washington. Kerry, as Olivia, accepted the challenge from the Disney exec:

She also nominated Jimmy Kimmel to keep the challenge going. Second, the Walt Disney CEO nominated Peter Quill, another fictional character. He’s played by Chris Pratt in the 2014 film, Guardians of the Galaxy. Pratt has not yet publicly responded to the challenge.

Finally, Iger nominated one last character: Tony Stark, or Iron Man. Robert Downey Jr., who plays Tony Stark in the Iron Man movies and in Avengers: Age of Ultron, to be released next year, accepted the challenge!

Nominations through, the Disney CEO says, “Here we go!” and braces himself for the bucket of water. He comes out pretty good — his Mickey Mouse shirt doesn’t even look wet!

Now we’re just waiting to hear from Chris Pratt. It’s fitting that a Walt Disney representative would challenge all fictional characters, isn’t it?
