WWE News: Seth Rollins To Cash In Money In The Bank At SummerSlam?

WWE has experienced much turmoil since WrestleMania 31. While CM Punk was a few months into his sabbatical, Daniel Bryan resurged as a major competitor in the main event scene. Brock Lesnar conquered the streak and the Shield split up. Roman Reigns is on his way to a WWE World Heavyweight title. Dean Ambrose is the number one babyface in the company.

That leaves “the Architect” of the Shield, Seth Rollins. He won the briefcase at the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in July and has only teased a cash-in two times. Both were a failure due to the relentless Ambrose and his petulant attitude towards Rollins.

On Sunday at WWE SummerSlam, it will be Rollins vs. Ambrose in a Lumberjack match. The match will be easily one of the best on the card, even though the stipulation doesn’t fit the two wrestler’s strength in the ring. An “Iron Man” match had the potential to steal the show.

Seth Rollins recently sat down with Xfinity and teased a cash-in at SummerSlam against Cena or Lesnar.

“I don’t think Brock’s gonna come out of that match (with John Cena at SummerSlam) looking too pretty either. I didn’t say, “Let’s see the condition of Cena.” I said, “Let’s see the condition of the champion.” Whoever the champion is at SummerSlam after that main event, they better watch out, because if the time is right and it feels good… you never know.”

A month ago, it wasn’t even certain that Rollins would be healthy enough to keep the belt. He took a scary fall on Raw, which led the WWE officials to put up the patented “X” in times of serious trouble. Of course, they overused the notion and ended up okay. Rollins is one of WWE’s top stars that cannot afford an injury right now.

On top of Punk leaving and Bryan still out for another four months, the WWE needs young guns to step up their game. Injuries are not a good thing, but those who find an opportunity must take it without question.

If Punk never left, Bryan would’ve never headlined WrestleMania 30 and won the WWE World Heavyweight championship. He took advantage of an opportunity and hit a grand slam.

Regardless, Seth Rollins has the opportunity of a lifetime with that briefcase. That guarantees him a championship. Triple H isn’t stupid. He sees the money Rollins will eventually draw, so having him lose the briefcase is ludicrous. Personally, this is how the next six months should go:

  1. Lesnar wins the WWE World Heavyweight title and holds it until WrestleMania 31.
  2. Reigns comes out victorious at the Royal Rumble 2015.
  3. Keep Rollins busy with good feuds alongside the Authority until it is time to cash in.
  4. Reigns must defeat Lesnar at WrestleMania 31 for the championship.
  5. Two months later, have Rollins cash in his briefcase to become the championship.
  6. Build that feud until SummerSlam when Reigns wins it back.

The only mistake WWE is consistently making is their inability to book long-term. That is the key to building great superstars. The “fly by the seat of your pants” attitude is ruining storylines and halts pushes for young guys. The fantasy booking probably won’t happen, but it makes sense for both parties involved.

If Rollins cashes in his briefcase on Sunday at SummerSlam, the WWE made a huge mistake. He definitely isn’t ready for the belt and it won’t even be believable that he can beat Lesnar. Then again, WWE has assembled worse storylines in the past, so a decision like that wouldn’t be too surprising.
