Shemar Moore On 'Y&R'

Shemar Moore On ‘The Young And The Restless’: First Photo From ‘Y&R’ Taping Of Malcolm Winters Released

Shemar Moore returns to The Young and the Restless for two episodes airing in September. He let fans know he filmed those on Monday. The actor, known for his role on the CBS soap opera as Malcolm Winters, is also famous for his role as Derek Morgan on Criminal Minds. He gave up the role of Malcolm on Y&R to work full-time on the prime time show.

Shemar Moore writes on Instagram:

“Just finished shooting THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS.. 2 episodes in one day.. REALLY GREAT to work with my OLD FRIENDS again!! 10 years later it felt like just yesterday once we started performing.. It’s short n sweet n dramatic of course.. HOPE YOU Y&R FANS ENJOY IT.. Airing Sept 10 and 11 on CBS… I felt really good to be welcomed home… Where MY CAREER BEGAN 20 YEARS AGO!!”

People reports on Shemar’s taping at Y&R. The photo above is the actor with Y&R co-star Kristoff St. John, who plays his older brother, Neil Winters.

Shemar says:

“There is not a 20-year career without Malcolm Winters. This is my second family. I don’t take any of it for granted. I’ve been wanting to do this since I left.”

Moore joined The Young and the Restless in 1995. When he left in 2005, his role as Malcolm was replaced by actor, Darius McCrary (Family Matters), from 2009 to 2011.

Details surrounding Malcolm’s return to Genoa City isn’t revealed. Moore isn’t giving up any spoilers, but it’s known he’s coming back to catch up with family and film some dramatic scenes with on-screen brother, Neil. Another tidbit People added is that Malcolm and Neil will discuss Drucilla, once played by actress Victoria Rowell. Her character died on the show after falling off a cliff and her body was never found.

For those who don’t know, Malcolm slept with Dru while she was married to Neil and is the father of Lily Winters.

Shemar says he saw Rowell not too long ago.

“I ran into her a couple weeks ago. I told her I’m sorry we won’t be all together. That would be pretty great, but as far as I know, Dru has passed away.”

St. John was happy to work again with his former Y&R co-star.

“He eclipsed so many people on this show. His supernova was huge,” St. John says of Moore’s appearance on the show.

Shemar Moore tells his fans — dubbed “baby girls” — that there won’t be any shirtless scenes of him during the September 10 and 11 episodes of The Young and the Restless.

“There are two wardrobe changes and none of them expose the six pack, which is more like a two or three pack,” Moore told People. “If you want to see me half-bucky naked, go on the internet.”
