Toddler Rescued From Train Tracks: Heart-stopping Moment Mom Jumps Onto Tracks To Save Child [Video]

A heart-stopping moment happened at London’s Underground when a toddler was rescued from some train tracks that ran the city’s rail system. CCTV recorded footage of a young child in a stroller near a doorway entrance to the tracks, as well as stairs where commuters arrive to board the train. The incident was filmed on July 23.

Daily Star reports that a man standing near the child’s “buggy” suddenly stepped away for a few seconds to help other family members. As soon as he leaves the scene, a powerful gust of wind pushes the buggy out onto the tracks. Realizing what had just happened, the mother rushed out to the tracks, risked her own life, and saved the child. By then the man came back, and seconds later another train raced in where the child could have easily been killed.

The British Transport Police (BTP) want to locate the people in the video to be sure the child is okay and didn’t suffer any injuries from falling onto the tracks.

Chief Inspector Mark Lawrie says:

“This was a frightening incident, not just for the scale of the danger the child was exposed to, but also because the woman then put her own life on the line by going onto the track.”

Concern is there for the parents as well. Daily Mail reports that although this appears to be a mistake by the parents, they could face charges.

“We urgently need to identify the people involved to ensure the child wasn’t injured as a result of the fall onto the tracks. I have taken the step of releasing CCTV of the people involved to highlight the very real concern we have for all involved.”

Phil Hufton, Chief Operating Officer for London Underground, said:

“I urge anyone who knows the family involved to contact British Transport Police.”

If either of the parents are charged with anything, at least the mom acted quickly with just seconds to spare in saving the toddler’s life. Fortunately, no one seemed to get seriously hurt in the harrowing event. It’s unknown if minor injuries were suffered at this point until British police get a better grasp on what happened by meeting with the family they want to find.
