Forrest Gump Is Running Again — In A Video Game! (Video)

What better way to mark the 20th anniversary of the Oscar-winning film Forrest Gump than with his own IOS game!

Forrest Gump must have seen this coming down the pike, when he said,

“Lieutenant Dan got me invested in some kind of fruit company. So then I got a call from him, saying we don’t have to worry about money no more. And I said, that’s good! One less thing.”

That fruit company is keeping Forrest running and running and running!

The free IOS app, Run Forrest Run, is a cartoon version of Forrest Gump reliving the famous scene from the film where Gump is running across the country for no other reason than he wanted to do it.

According to Kotaku, the game, “officially licensed by Paramount and published by Genera mobile,” starts with Jenny telling young Forrest to “Run, Forrest, Run!” and off he goes.

As the young Forrest takes off, he eventually transforms into the adult version of Forrest Gump doing what he does best, running. But not just running. According to Joystiq, Forrest begins running from his sweet home Alabama, when he encounters adventures such as maneuvering through heavy traffic, dodging traffic cones and jumping over trains.

All the while, Forrest Gump is “collecting a band of followers” as mentioned on iTunes, and Forrest is snatching up power-ups and collecting coins as his journey continues down Route 66.

While we may not see Forrest Gump getting shot in the buttocks or being a hot-shot at the ping pong table or even telling the President, “I gotta pee,” this game is sure to please those who want to see Forrest Gump forever running. As long as you want him to run, he’ll run.

Run Forrest Run — the next best thing to a box of chocolates.
