EA leaks details of Syndicate reboot on Origin

Despite the fact that a document spotted by internet sleuth Superannuation outed it last year, EA has been trying their best to keep the Syndicate reboot under wraps. EA probably should have told that to whoever leaked details, including screenshots, on Origin earlier today.

Oops.

According to the listing, which was promptly removed, the Syndicate reboot will take place in the year 2069, and takes place in a world where governments as we know it are a thing of the past. Instead, the globe is divided up into regions controlled by megacorporations.

Citizens of their respective Syndicate, the name given to such megacorporations, are given a rather appealing lifestyle, at least on the surface; they’re offered housing, medical, banking, insurance, education, entertainment and even jobs.

There is a catch, of course – in exchange for the citizens’ comfortable, secure lifestyles, the megacorporations gain a pretty uncomfortable level of insight and control over their inhabitants.

Players will take on the role of Miles Kilo, “Eurocorp’s latest prototype agent”. The story, which sounds rather compelling, at least from that bit, is being penned by Richard K. Morgan, who you may or may not know as the scriptwriter for Crysis 2.

The listing didn’t mention any specific details regarding Kilo, but it did mention that Syndicate will feature four-player online co-op.

According to rumors, Syndicate was originally set to be exclusively revealed in an upcoming issue of Gamereactor Sweden. Assuming the rumors are true, we may be hearing more soon.

In the meantime, head over to NeoGAF to check out a bunch of screenshots from the leak, ripped straight from the listing on Origin.
