Demi Lovato Craves Drugs Every Day, Admits Sobriety Is A Daily Battle

Demi Lovato has admitted that she craves drugs on a daily basis and is constantly battling to remain sober.

Lovato has opened up about her struggles, which saw her head to rehab in 2010, and she has even been discussing about her attempts to overcome her drug addiction, as well as her battles with bulimia, self-injury and bipolar disorder.

According to Celeb Dirty Laundry, the upcoming edition of Globe Magazine reveals that Lovato has slipped numerous times over the last few years as she’s looked to battle her demons. Lovato also notes that she has made a conscious decision not to surround herself with questionable people too, because she knows that she is likely to slip if she sees bad behavior.

Lovato then conceded that even merely mentioning alcohol makes her nervous, and she is now just looking to take her battle one day at time. She also explained that the thought of never ever drinking a glass of wine again makes her really uncomfortable, so she decides to tell herself that she doesn’t want one today.

Just last month, Lovato told the Daily Mail that “drugs numbed everything,” and that her life had turned into a complete “shambles.”

Lovato also conceded that her cocaine addiction became so bad at one point that she even used to carry it on to planes just to ensure that she would get her fix. “I would smuggle it on and just wait until everyone in first class was asleep and then I would sneak to the bathroom,” she confessed.

Lovato’s lowest point came when she punched a backing singer who was also a close friend of hers. This then forced her to seek help for her addiction. “I was performing concerts on an empty stomach,” she explained. “I was losing my voice from purging. I was self-medicating and I was so emotionally whacked out that I took it out on someone that meant a lot to me.”

In October 2010, Lovato entered a treatment facility for “physical and emotional issues,” after her management and family decided to hold an intervention for her. She stayed in the establishment until January, which is when she returned home and acknowledged that she had been bulimic, harmed herself, and was taking a dangerous concoction of drugs and alcohol to numb her pain. Lovato also added that she had “basically had a nervous breakdown” and had now been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
