Pit Bull Stitches Attacks 8-Year-Old Girl, Rips Off Part Of Dad’s Genitals

Pit bull Stitches attacked an 8-year-old girl and the girl’s father last week in Albuquerque, New Mexico, causing damage to the child’s face as well as partial detachment of her dad’s genitals and “severe lacerations.”

According to the report from Sky News, the owner, whose name was not released as part of the initial report, “is recovering from severe injuries after his pit bull tore part of his genitals when he tried to stop the animal attacking his daughter.”

Pit bull Stitches set upon the owner after first biting the child’s face, prompting her father to action, said police.

More from the report:

The 90lb (40kg) mixed breed punctured the child’s cheek, before clamping its jaws around her 35-year-old father’s groin.

Albuquerque Police Department spokesman Simon Drobik said: ‘When we got on the scene the man was bleeding severely and holding his groin.

‘It was really bad.’

“The man was rushed to hospital suffering from ‘partial detachment of the genitals’ and ‘severe lacerations’… The eight-year-old was treated at the scene.

“The family told police they had only moved in to the house three days before the attack, having inherited the property and Stitches from the man’s recently deceased grandfather.

“Animal Control officials removed the animal from the property.”

It’s not clear what will happen to the pit bull Stitches. Smart money says the dog will be put down. There is certainly that option, though the New Mexico case did not mention it. However, a similar pit bull attack that occurred on an 8-year-old girl in Ohio left the owner with options.

In that case, reported here by WCPO, the owner could have had the dog destroyed, or, after a 10-day quarantine, they could have taken him back with the stipulation that he be labeled as a vicious dog and kept away from children.

Ultimately, it was left up to the owners in that case, and since the New Mexico family has ownership of the dog, they will have to decide what comes next.

Unfortunately, you hear of a pit bull attack almost every week. While most owners will claim that their dog could never hurt anyone, statistics show that any breed can attack at any time.

The problem with pit bulls is that they can do a lot more damage than most breeds due to their overwhelming jaw strength. In the case reported by WCPO, that animal had been described as “friendly” and one that neighborhood kids played with “all the time.” It still didn’t stop it from putting 218 stitches in the little girl’s face.
