Kanye West Lets Everyone Know It’s ‘Yeezy Season’ At Outside Lands 2014

Kanye West wants the world to know it’s “Yeezy Season.” We’re not entirely sure what that means, but it probably doesn’t mean you can hunt Kanye and get away with it.

West was one of the many artists who performed at Outside Lands 2014, though as far as we can tell, the rapper was the only one who decided to spend a fair amount of time making bold declarations and taking shots at the media. After all, it’s not a proper Kanye West performance unless he’s talking nonsense about one thing or another.

HipHopDX reports that West decided to cut his “Clique” performance short to drop some knowledge about the state of the media. In case you haven’t heard, Kanye isn’t a big fan of newspapers, websites, and blogs that spend a lot of time pouring over his life and career. So why does he frequently give us fuel for the fire? Who knows, but it’s almost always entertaining. Unintentionally, of course.

West explained during his latest onstage rant:

“Instead of embracing the moment, embracing the time, the era, the season that they’re living in — called Yeezy season.”

Kanye later added:

“At the Yeezy show, everyone is a star. I promote self-confidence! If you’re a friend of mine, you’re really just a friend of yourself!”

But wait — there’s more:

“This ain’t no radio s**t. This ain’t no s**t made to please mutherf**kers. This ain’t no concierge, maitre d music and s**t trying to sound smooth as possible.”

Instead of recording songs and releasing proper records, Kanye West should assemble all of his rants and set them to music. This writer would gladly purchase Kanye’s Greatest Rants before he’d pay good money for the stuff he’s crafting in the studio these days.

According to Hollywood Life, Kanye West also took a moment to acknowledge Kim Kardashian during the Outside Lands 2014 set. Instead of referring to the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star as his wife, he referred to his spouse by a less affectionate name.

An anonymous source told the site:

“Kanye kept calling Kim his ‘baby mama’ while he was onstage. He did it multiple times. And at one point during his set, he said, ‘Baby mama’s first show since we got married.’ Then he later admitted it was actually Kim’s third show since they got married, but he just said first to make it sound more dramatic!”

Did you catch Kanye West’s set at Outside Lands 2014? Which do you enjoy more: the rapper’s music or his onstage antics?
