A recent study in the U.K. found that 95 percent of women have been on the receiving end of an unwanted catcall when going about their routine daily business at some point.

And to paraphrase a common remark about a study of a another topic, the other five percent are lying.

Why women are forced to endure this routine and everyday sexual harassment is both puzzling and infuriating. What on Earth are men thinking when they shout something creepy or otherwise sexually suggestive at a woman they’ve ever seen before and, in most cases, will never see again. What’s in it for them?
