James Corden Top Five Facts: Possible ‘Late Late Night’ Host is a Riot

James Corden has been pegged as a possible successor to Craig Ferguson as The Late Late Show Host.

E! News is adamant about the fact that Ferguson wasn’t forced out about his position. It was Ferguson’s decision to take a step back and let someone else (possibly Corden) take the reigns.

“I’ll be stepping down at the end of this year in December,” Ferguson said. “Then I’ll go and do something else, probably. I’m thinking carpentry, but I haven’t made my mind up yet. I don’t know what I’m going to do yet but I feel doing this show for 10 years, that’s enough…I have a good relationship with [CBS]. I’m still in business with them on other stuff, so please don’t picket them or go up to CBS with flaming torches, unless you’re angry at me, then, you know, get in line.”

This means that a replay of the infamous Conan O’Brien-Jay Leno switcheroo won’t be happening.

Here are some things you should know about potential host James Corden:

1. He’s a fútbol maniac.

James Corden took over as coach of English Premiere League heavyweight Manchester United in 2010. Corden replaced the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson. This was all for show of course, but the results were amazing. Corden can really move.

In his one day stint as manager James lead the team in an exercise drill. The drill he led the squad through was eerily similar to a calisthenics routine by 1990s fitness icon Denise Austin.

2. Corden is an award winner.

For his role as Neil “Smithy” Smith in BBC One’s Gavin & Stacey Corden won a BAFTA Television Award for Best Comedy Performance. Corden also co-created and co-wrote the beloved three season long comedy series.

In 2012, James Corden performed in the Broadway run of One Man, Two Guvnors. He later won the Tony Award for Best Actor in a Play for that performance.

3. James ia a married man with an adorable son.

The funny man is married to gorgeous, blonde charity worked Julia Carey according to Bustle. Not much else is known about the 35-year-old other than the fact that she’s pregnant with the couple’s second child. They currently have one son, Max, who’s three years young.

4. Magazine editors love him.

The British version of GQ magazine named the comedian their 15th annual Man of the Year. This announcement came of the heels of James’ magnificent 2012.

The magazine’s limited edition cover features the joke slinger looking dapper in a tuxedo and being touched by two beautiful, presumably female hands.

5. James Corden is British.

Duh. Nevertheless, James is a good chap after all!
