Best Buy And Walmart ‘Destiny’ Ghost Edition Pre-Orders Canceled According To Reddit Stories
Gamers have been taking to Reddit today to post stories about finding their Best Buy and Walmart Destiny Ghost Edition pre-orders canceled. The new online shooter from developer Bungie and publisher Activision marketed several versions of the newest IP from the Halo developer including an expensive, and now highly coveted, Ghost Edition of the game.
The rumblings that Activision may have grossly underestimated the pre-order demand for the top tier Ghost Edition were first heard on VideoGamer by David Scammell, who brought to light a tweet from GAME, the UK version of GameStop, which stated that the Ghost Edition had sold-out in under a week for all platforms save for the PlayStation 4.

Here in the U.S. where the Destiny Beta snagged over 4 million users, Best Buy and Walmart Destiny Ghost Edition pre-orders being canceled were the topic of conversation, according to Reddit stories. Those who have been on the fence will likely find themselves forced to purchase the physical edition of the game from scalpers on eBay where bids for Destiny Ghost Editions are reaching north of five hundred dollars including one bid that closed at $1,025.
According to several GameStop store managers, the Ghost Editions of Destiny spent less than 2 days on the retailer’s systems before being pulled. Similar stories are being told across the web with some figures placing the Ghost Edition pre-order selling out in 30 hours once announced. The Ghost Edition of Destiny included a plethora of physical goodies to appeal to the serious video game collector. According to the Bungie news post, the contents included:

Gamers who do find that their Destiny Ghost Edition pre-order canceled by their retailer of choice may find some solace that all the digital content in the Ghost Edition is contained in the Digital Guardian Edition of the game.
Destiny launches on September 9, 2014 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One, both digitally and at retail.
