Allergy Season

If you have season allergies you might want to prepare yourself for an allergy season that’s expected to be even worse than last years according to doctors.

Estelle Levetin, Ph.D., chairwoman of the aerobiology committee for the American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology told CNN:

“Pollen levels are increasing, pollen seasons are getting longer, and more people are developing allergies.”

Based on a new study the upcoming allergy season is expected to last 27 days longer than the average season in North America, possibly lingering into the month of November.

According to some researchers the increase in pollen levels and season length can be blamed on global warming as plants and tree flowers have begun releasing pollen earlier each spring while the fall delay’s the death of ragweed plants from frost, causing the pollen season to extend.

CNN adds that increased carbon dioxide levels is also making pollen more potent.

With an increase in the pollen count and a longer allergy season it is now being reported that allergies are two to five times more prevalent than they were 30 years ago according to surveys conducted by the National Institutes of Health.

If you suffer from season allergy’s how are you preparing for the extended, higher pollen count season we are expecting?
