Turtles may not be the fastest moving creatures on Earth, but when a turtle decides to protect his territory — the turtle protects his territory. In this case, the “territory” is a plastic ball that this feisty turtle decides would be a great toy to play with.

Actually, we didn’t even know that turtles play with toys, or kick balls around like Cristiano Ronaldo. What we do know is that the stereotype of turtles as lazy animals who just want to hide in their shell is wrong. In fact, animal behavior experts say when a turtle exhibits that type of sluggish, “lazy” behavior, it usually means the turtle is unhappy for some reason.

So we are pleased to report that the remarkable turtle in this video is one happy camper. Happy enough to confidently battle this playful but, let’s face it, greedy little dog who saunters in and tries to steal the ball.

But the turtle is having none of it. The little guy could easily call it quits, but he refuses to back down or give up, even as the dog attempts to claim the ball as his own.
