Squirrel Kicking At Grand Canyon: 2 Men Kick Squirrels Into Grand Canyon Luring Them To Food [Video]

A disturbing video shows two men kicking squirrels and it’s upsetting animal lovers. The footage shows the men, believed to be French, luring squirrels with food to the edge of a Grand Canyon cliff then kicking the unsuspecting animals off of it.

The Independent reports that the men used breadcrumbs to attract the fluffy-tailed creatures. One of the men is seen putting his shoe on before kicking the squirrel over the edge while his friend takes photos.

YouTube user, Jonathan Hildebrand, posted the video. He says he didn’t know what the men were going to do until he noticed they were kicking animals.

“I did not realize what was happening until it was too late,” Hildebrand says. “I do not know who they are. All I know is that they were French.”

Grand Canyon National Park spokeswoman Kirby-Lynn Shedlowski says officials agree that it appears the men were kicking squirrels out into the valley craters. According to AZ Central, this case of animal cruelty is being probed.

“The rangers do believe it is at Grand Canyon in the national park. It is under investigation. We are working with YouTube to see if we can get any additional information.”

As the report adds, different versions of the animals being kicked are uploaded. The Daily Mail shows two shirtless men standing on a cliff. Another scene shows a man filming a man in black shorts while he drops food trailing to the ledge. In another clip yet, the man in black shorts kicks a squirrel over the edge.

Sheldowski isn’t certain about the men being charged with animal cruelty or any other arresting charges. It’s going to be a challenge finding out who the offenders are.

“They (investigators) would have to be able to identify the individual which is going to be problematic,” says the spokeswoman.

What’s known for sure about the incident is where exactly the squirrels were tricked into reaching the edge before the mean-spirited act by the men was executed.

The New York Daily News reports that at its highest point, the Grand Canyon is 6,000-feet.

The video above shows the squirrels being kicked. It’s obvious they’re getting some kind of thrill out of harming innocent animals. Luckily, someone captured the incident to expose the individuals. It may be difficult to track down the identity of these two men, but at least these two didn’t do this without someone catching them in the middle of their squirrel kicking game.
