‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’ Paris Map Revealed; Close To The Real Thing

A new leak Monday reveals the size of the Paris map in Assassin’s Creed Unity. This should help remove all doubt about why the upcoming open-world action-adventure game will only be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

The image of the Assassin’s Creed Unity map appears to be that of a cloth map that was reportedly part of a gift set sent to some of the Assassin’s Creed fan communities as a thank you for supporting and promoting the series. In this case, the Paris map originated with Access The Animus and was released by Reddit user Skeela, who notes, “To give you an idea of size: just look at the ‘Île de la Cité’ in the middle, all the streets, almost a little village.”

The densely packed, nearly 1:1 map covers not just the above ground portions of Paris, but will also allow Unity players to enter approximately one-quarter of all the buildings, according to a Ubisoft tease. There will also be a system of underground catacombs to explore.

Ubisoft previously claimed that the Assassin’s Creed Unity would be a massive game, and it appears that they are telling the truth. The game is set during the eve of the French Revolution during the 18th century and will reportedly include many of the Parisian monuments. The Notre Dame cathedral is already confirmed, but this this map should encompass several other notable locations such as La Bastille and Le Panethéon.

As mentioned before, Assassin’s Creed Unity takes place during the French Revolution and follows an assassin’s named Arno Dorian. In a first for the series, the game will provide four-player co-operative multiplayer during the campaign. A trailer released last week also introduced a female character named Elise. However, in a twist, she is a Templar, yet Arno races to save her before turning and fighting alongside her.

There’s no word on if Unity will include locations outside of Paris, just as previous games in the series took place in multiple locations or if the massive size of the city will be more than enough to keep players busy. It should be full of people as Ubisoft was able to use the power of the new consoles and PC to fill the city with up to 1,000 individual AI characters.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is currently scheduled to be released to the PS4, Xbox One and PC on October 28. The name of an Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Assassin’s Creed title was recently leaked as well, but details for it have not been announced.
