Actor James Woods: Is Nancy Pelosi Mentally Ill?

The dust-up between U.S. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, the California Democrat, and Rep. Tom Marino, has caused actor James Woods to wonder on social media about Pelosi’s mental health.

As The Inquisitr previously reported, a finger-pointing Pelosi confronted (or chased/rushed up to) Marino twice last night while he was speaking on the U.S. House floor in favor of a bill to address the humanitarian and law enforcement crisis on the southern border. The bill, which authorizes $694 million for additional border-related resources, passed by a vote of 223 to 189.

Marino, a Republican, represents Pennsylvania’s 10th Congressional District in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area, and is serving his second term in the U.S. House of Representatives.

Marino directed his remarks at the Democrats who previously controlled both chambers of Congress:

We don’t have law and order, we have distrust, we have gangs coming across, drugs coming across the southern border. And my colleagues on the other side don’t want to do anything about it. You know, something I find quite interesting about the other side … Under the leadership of the former speaker and under the leadership of their former leader when in 2009 and 2010, they had the House, the Senate and the White House, and they knew this problem existed. They didn’t have the strength to go after it back then. But now are trying to make a political issue out of it now. What we need to do is pass this legislation, make sure these children get back to their families, and we need to line up and protect this border from people coming across.”

After Pelosi (who was off mic) abruptly ran up to him to apparently challenge his statements, Marino added:

Yes it is true. I did the research on it. You might want to try it. You might want to try it, Madam Leader. Do the research on it. Do the research. I did it. That’s one thing that you don’t do “

When order was restored, Marion concluded that “I urge my colleagues to vote for this legislation, and apparently I hit the right nerve.” Pelosi can then seen on the video running up to Marino again.

President Obama has accused the GOP-controlled House of being obstructionists, but the House did pass the border funding supplemental bill. The Democrat-controlled Senate had already adjourned by then, and thus was unable to pass the bill even if it wanted to. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has already indicated that the House bill won’t pass the Senate, assuming it’s brought up for a vote. Since the House has passed hundreds of bills that have languished in the Senate under Reed and the Democrats’ watch, if obstructionism is in play, it goes both ways.

Pelosi’s conduct in the Marino confrontation caused James Woods to tweet that “Pelosi may actually be mentally ill. Her behavior is becoming unhinged. This is no laughing matter.” Woods has very much gone against the Hollywood grain previously by criticizing Obama and other liberals on social media.

Pelosi’s spokeswoman claimed that she was just reminding Marino about the so-called DREAM Act, and that Marino apologized. A Marino representative said he did no such thing and indeed there is no reason for an apology.

Marino himself took to Twitter to claim that Pelosi trotted out, in effect, the don’t-you-know-who-I-am card:

Rep. Pelosi called me an ‘insignificant person’ on the floor of the House. I’ll ponder that for a while driving to Williamsport tonight… Of course I’ll be driving myself, with no staff or security. And I’m just a country lawyer who worked in a bakery until he was 30… so maybe I am not signficant enough to question the former Speaker. But why then did she get so bothered by my comments.

Some of Pelosi’s recent erratic statements have raised eyebrows. For example, late last month she suggested that the Hamas terrorists in Gaza might actually be a “humanitarian organization.” She also fundamentally misrepresented the Hobby Lobby Supreme Court decision, which could be another example of her lack of research that Marino referenced. In an appearance on Jon Stewart’s Daily Show, Pelosi claimed she had no clue as to why the Obamacare rollout failed so miserably, and that it wasn’t her job to know.

Do you think that James Woods is justified or not justified by raising questions about Nancy Pelosi’s mental health?
