Dita Von Teese: Marilyn Manson’s Ex Launches Maternity Lingerie Line

Dita Von Teese is known as one of the best-dressed women in Hollywood. Now she hopes to share her elegant, sexy style with pregnant women.

The burlesque star is partnering with Destination Maternity for a new line of maternity lingerie.

According to the Daily Mail, Dita said:

“Elegant underpinnings are a simple way to create everyday moments of luxury and beauty, and why wouldn’t a new mother enjoy beautiful lingerie, too?…The collection I created with Destination Maternity is designed to capture the spirit of retro glamour, while inspiring confidence and meeting the practical requirements and everyday needs of a new mother”.

The Von Follies maternity collection sells for upwards of $39 and includes nursing bras and postpartum panties. Dita models some of the maternity line herself in promotional photos.

This is not Dita’s first foray into fashion design. As the Inquisitr reported in 2011, Dita’s first line for Von Follies debuted exclusively in Australia. Now it sells online with corsets, g-strings and balconette bras as best-sellers.

In May, Dita told the Queen Latifah Show that her designs are meant to be worn in everyday life:

“It’s something that all women can wear for themselves, not for a man… You feel good wearing it, no matter what your shape or size or background. And who doesn’t want to let a little bit of beauty into their lives?”.

Dita said her audience mostly consists of women and that she seeks to empower women through burlesque dancing.

Dita came into the public eye during her relationship with Marilyn Manson. They were together for six years, before their relationship ended in divorce. Court documents obtained by People Magazine show that Dita claimed “irreconcilable differences” as the main reason for the split.

According to her online bio, Dita was born in West Branch, Michigan as Heather Sweet. She started burlesque dancing in 1992 and has since been dubbed ‘The Queen of Burlesque’. Dita’s martini glass routine is one the most iconic routines in modern burlesque.

According to Dita’s Facebook page, she is working on a follow up to her books Burlesque and the Art of the Teese and Dita Stripteese.

As well, Dita is planning a U.S. tour this fall. The Strip Strip Hooray tour is scheduled to travel to Los Angeles, San Francisco and Chicago, before culminating with four performances in New York City.

Dita will be joined by the “who’s who of burlesque” including Dirty Martini, Catherine D’Lish and Perle Noire. Tickets for the 90-minute show are available online.
