Move Over Nicki Minaj: The New Lana Del Rey Music Video ‘Ultraviolence’ Will Make Your Jaw Drop

Rolling Stone magazine has caught up to the new Lana Del Rey music video for her single “Ultraviolence,” and it’s already causing a commotion all over YouTube and various forms of social media. The song is clearly about a somewhat fatal attraction to an abusive significant other with lyrics like “He hit me and it felt like a kiss.”

The single is off Lana’s new album by the same name and is the third single to drop from the album that came out in June. In the new music video, which was reportedly filmed in its entirety on an iPhone, Lana wanders around in a wedding dress looking more like a doe-eyed school girl than a tortured ingenue who recently just wished death upon herself.

When asked about what caused her to write such a darkly haunting song, she delivered a typical cryptic answer in true Lana Del Rey fashion:

“I’m very selfish. I make everything for me, kind of. I mean, every little thing, down to the guitar and the drums. It’s just for me…I don’t want them to hear it and think about it. It’s none of their business!”

The music video itself is rather simple but seems to convey a haunting message that not everything is as it seems. It is reported by E! Online that the very simple video was produced by Vogue photographer Francesco Carrozzini, who is reported to be dating the 29-year-old singer.

The “Ultraviolence” song and music video seem to add to the questions about Lana Del Rey’s mental health, but you can judge for yourself:

However, Lana also addressed these questions during a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine:

“Well, I feel f—ing crazy. But I don’t think I am. People make me feel crazy. I find that most people I meet figure I kind of want to kill myself anyway. So, it comes up every time.”

As far as Lana’s romantic links to Francesco Carrozzini, who is 31, there has not been any official statement made about their romance, but they’ve been seen several times out and about in Italy. Carrozzini has also posted a screen capture from the new “Ultraviolence” music video to his Instagram account in tandem with the release of the video.
