J.K. Rowling To Release Another ‘Harry Potter’ Novel?

The world can’t seem to get enough Harry Potter, and despite already having three books under her belt post-Hogwarts, it’s possible that J.K. Rowling can’t either. It’s only been a few weeks since Rowling crashed her Pottermore website with her new short story– which came in the form of a news article from fictional rag journalist Rita Skeeter–but it looks like she may have even more in store for Potter fans. The folks over at the Mirror have been combing through the clues, and if they are correct, Rowling is planning on some sort of release later today, on the 31st of July:

The Quidditch short story revealed another Rita Skeeter book; ‘My new biography, ”Dumbledore’s Army: The Dark Side of the Demob” will be available from Flourish and Blotts on July 31st’.

The evidence is debatable, but even taking it seriously, one has to question if J.K. Rowling is even ready for another venture into the wizarding world.

Since releasing Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows, Rowling has released three adult novels, one in the form of the divisive The Casual Vacancy, and two mysteries under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. While evidence may be pointing to more Hogwarts adventures, some Potter fans may be sad to hear that Rowling is right at home with Galbraith. In a recent interview with the Newcastle Herald, Rowling even stated her desire to keep writing under the pen name:

One of the things I love about this genre is that, unlike Harry Potter, where there was a through line, where there was an overarching story, a beginning and end, you are talking about discrete stories. So while a detective lives, you can keep giving him cases.

So will Rowling write these cases instead of a new Potter adventure? It’s hard to say. It is very plausible there will be an announcement of some sort from Rowling, and that can lead to a number of things, ranging from another Rita Skeeter-esque article to something bigger. And let’s not forget the films that J.K. Rowling is set to write the screenplay for Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them, an upcoming film from WB set in the Potter universe, so it may even be something related to that property.

If history has proven anything, it is that J.K. Rowling is unpredictable.

What are your thoughts? Is J.K. Rowling going to revisit the Harry Potter world, or is it all just wishful thinking? Let us know what you think below!
