Hilary Duff’s New Song ‘Chasing the Sun’ Is Perfect Pop [VIDEO]
Hilary Duff’s streak of musical silence is so yesterday.
The 26 year old rocked our world this week when she released her first new song in 7 years and it’s an incredible throwback to the Hilary Duff Metamorphosis sound from more than 10 years ago.
Hilary is single these days, having split from her hockey player husband, Mike Comrie, in January, and this new song screams fun and freedom — but maybe that’s just a coincidence.
Hilary Duff splashed into the national spotlight as Lizzie McGuire, the lead in a Disney Channel series. As is the Disney formula, Hilary forayed into music. But she quickly found her way into the business end of the industry, collecting producer credits on films and entering the world of design, writing books and philanthropy.
Her music career was put on hold — seemingly finished. Until this week.
Just like we should expect from the all-business singer-songwriter, the release of the song ‘Chasing the Sun’ is accompanied by a video and plenty of press. Hollywood Life reports Hilary will make an appearance at Marquee NYC in New York City on Thursday as part of her comeback.
She’s got the high-profile backing of RCA Records, the record company that a certain other former Disney TV-turned-music star eventually found herself at. Hilary and Miley Cyrus were once label-mates at Hollywood Records. Now, they’re together again.
A recent Billboard article quoted Hilary saying “I couldn’t be more excited to join the RCA family. I love my team there and feel so lucky to be in the company of their talented artists.”
She said of the new project, which is due this fall, “I took a break from music for quite awhile, but it gave me the power to choose my next steps carefully and I’m really proud of the album I’ve made.”
