‘Assassin’s Creed Unity’ Female Templar Elise Saved By Male Assassin Arno In New Trailer

In a new trailer released on the Ubisoft YouTube channel for Assassin’s Creed Unity, female Templar Elise is saved by male Assassin Arno in the new CG trailer for Europe.

The CG trailer does not give us much information other than Arno, the focal point of the story, is in a rush to stave off the execution of this beautiful female templar. The only information that Ubisoft has given so far according to Game Informer is that the woman is named Elise. Her social status is that of a noblewoman and quite obviously a member of the Templar order. How Arno becomes involved with Elise is not clear at this time.

IGN has a bit more detail in their description of Elise as, “a character central to Assassin’s Creed Unity’s story. As an independent young noblewoman, Elise is determined to secure her place in the Templar dynasty amidst the chaos of the French Revolution. Her quest leads her to cross paths with Arno and establish an unlikely bond with him.”

This is not the first time that an Assassin has spared the life of a Templar in the franchise’s history. In Assassin’s Creed, Altaïr Ibn-La’Ahad spared the life of the female Templar Maria. In Assassin’s CreedII we see Maria in her Templar armor atop a tower in Acre sharing a night of passion with Altaïr in which she becomes pregnant. Other games and books explore their relationship including their eventual marriage and birth of their two sons who continue the bloodline that ultimately leads to Desmond Miles. Even though the story of Desmond Miles is officially over, the effects of how his story ended continue to influence the series as seen in Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag.

The Assassin’s Creed Unity female Templar’s back story will be explored in more detail in the companion book Assassin’s Creed Unity being penned by Oliver Bowden, a pseudonyms for Anton Gill. Mr. Gill has written companion books for the series previously. The Assassin’s Creed Unity book will be told from the perspective of Elise. The book is schedule to be released after the game on November 24, 2014.

Assassin’s Creed Unity is set during the Reign of Terror which was marked with mass executions during the French Revolution totaling over 16,000 deaths by guillotine. The release date for Assassin’s Creed Unity is currently slated for October 28, 2014 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
