‘Sin City’ Sequel Gives Lady Gaga A Shot At Movie Stardom

Lady Gaga gives acting a turn in Robert Rodriguez’s sequel to Frank Miller’s Sin CitySin City: A Dame To Kill For, according to CinemaBlend.

Cast in a bit part as a waitress named Bertha in the star-studded sequel to the 2005 film, Lady Gaga is shown briefly in the latest red band trailers for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For.

Starring in Sin City 2 are a number of alum from the first film, including Jessica Alba, Mickey Rourke, Bruce Willis, and Rosario Dawson. New to the Sin City pantheon are Josh Brolin, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eva Green, Juno Temple, Ray Liotta, Jeremy Piven, and Powers Boothe.

Lady Gaga just confirmed her involvement today with an Instagram message, though Gaga fans had noticed she was in the new Sin City trailer unveiled as last weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con.

In a post on Instagram, Lady Gaga comments, “It’s true! I’ll be in ‘Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For’ with my favorite scene partner, Joseph Gordon Levitt. I love Rodriguez. He really killed this one!”

Sounds like Lady Gaga had a blast filming the movie. According to E! Online, when Lady Gaga was questioned by a fan who hoped she had a big juicy role in Sin City 2, Gaga replied:

“It’s not a big part but I’m always happy to do it! When I take a music break I’ll have more time. I’m just warming up. I gotta wet my feet first. Plus, I perform best when I have time to focus.”

Robert Rodriguez fans may remember that this isn’t the first time Lady Gaga has acted on the big screen. She played a bit part in Rodriquez’s 2013 film, Machete Kills.

The trailers for Sin City: A Dame To Kill For feature the unique black and white footage with splashes of color stylings that made the first Sin City film so memorable. Over the top violence and more than a healthy dose of sexual innuendo combined with the top rate storytelling skills of graphic novel virtuoso Frank Miller made the film a success. Sin City also almost single handedly brought Mickey Rourke’s career back from the grave. After his appearance in the first Sin City, Rourke would go on to star in The Wrestler, for which he would win a Golden Globe Award, a BAFTA, and be nominated for an Oscar (Oh, and a couple years after that he would go on to a starring role as the villain in a little film called Iron Man 2).

The Sin City: A Dame to Kill For trailer is packed with starpower, one-liners, extreme noir, and straight ahead coolness. Sin City 2: A Dame To Kill For will be released on August 22.
