Kurt Cobain Brought To Life Through Future Biopic? Courtney Love Says Yes

Kurt Cobain could be brought to life again through a biopic, according to Courtney Love, the late Nirvana frontman’s wife.

The Philippine Daily Inquirer reported Courtney Love’s announcement about Kurt Cobain earlier in the week.

“The biopic should start within the next year or so,” Cobain’s widow told reporters.

According to Spin, the idea and announcement of a Kurt Cobain biopic is nothing new. Courtney has announced possibilities of a documentary, stage production, and biopic several times in the past, but nothing has ever come from the announcements. This time around, however, Courtney has issued some detailed statements that may suggest a biopic of Kurt could actually be in the works.

“CAA (Creative Artists Agency) directly sent me actors’ (demo) reels,” Love explained. “That was really tough because these boys are so pretty, so cute. I won’t name names because I don’t want to jinx it for anyone but these are 25-year-olds who are blond, gorgeous and the new Brad Pitts. There’s a ton of those. Some are really good actors, not just pretty faces.”

Love is adamant that choosing an actor to portray Kurt Cobain will be hard, but she is going to push for an actor that will portray Cobain best.

“I don’t want to be the person who makes that decision. Let’s leave that to the agents; I have great agents now. But I will have a say in it,” Love told reporters.

She admits that since word has gotten out about the Cobain biopic, she has had several actors approach her in various ways to claim the lead part.

“Some beautiful blonde, tragic, gorgeous actor boy is hitting on me, and why? He wants to play Kurt. So I am moving that over to the agency side. I am not Cecil B. DeMille or anything like that. I don’t want to be the producer per se.”

In addition to the actors coming on to her in various ways, Love has also had to fight off producers and other people who want to be involved in the movie. She has decided to let her agency deal with the issues she faces in hiring people for the chance to have a role in the Kurt Cobain biopic.

Kurt Cobain’s widow claims that people are coming at her left and right for roles in the biopic.

“Everyone wants to throw money at this. Let the agency protect me from this. It’s really, really important. I am letting my agency decide a lot of things because I don’t want to be talking to some hot producer guy, make out with him, and then have him go, ‘So, baby, do you own the rights?’ That has happened,” Love confessed.

Kurt Cobain’s daughter with Love, Frances Bean Cobain, may be able to take part in the biopic, as may former members of Nirvana.

“I do have a say in it. So do Frances, and Krist, and Dave (Grohl), for that matter, it touches on Nirvana — and it will,” Kurt Cobain’s widow insisted.

Courtney says she is “leading the charge” on the Kurt Cobain biopic because “it’s time to do this.”
