WWE News: Daniel Bryan Surprises Burglars; Beats One Down

WWE Superstar Daniel Bryan surprised burglars at his Phoenix home on Monday and attacked one, detaining him until authorities could arrive. The other burglar got away. According to Phoenix affiliate ABC 15, Daniel Bryan, real name Bryan Danielson, arrived home Monday night with his wife, WWE Diva Brie Bella, and found the would-be burglars in their home. The burglars immediately ran out of the front door and Bryan tackled one, forcing him to the ground, and held him there until the police arrived.

The alleged burglar, 22-year-old Cesar Sosa, has been arrested and charged with burglary. According to TMZ, the suspect is already facing charges for kidnapping in another case. The second suspect has not been located.

All items that were being burglarized have been recovered, according to the TMZ story.

Daniel Bryan is a former WWE World Heavyweight Champion, and is currently “off TV”–an industry term–recovering from neck surgery. It was revealed at last month’s Money in the Bank pay-per-view that Bryan may need additional surgeries that may, according to a story on The Inquisitr, keep him from wrestling professionally for at least a year. Before the surgery, Bryan was part of a magical David-versus-Goliath storyline that saw him win the championship belt at April’s Wrestlemania 30. A much-loved fan favorite, Bryan was later stripped of his World Heavyweight Champion title while he recovers and John Cena took the belt at Money in the Bank.

Daniel Bryan’s meteoric rise to the top of the WWE began last summer when John Cena gave Bryan a title match and subsequently lost to the diminutive grappler from Washington State at SummerSlam. As Bryan celebrated his monumental win, Randy Orton–with help of “special referee” Triple H, who pedigreed Bryan after the hard-fought battle–cashed in his Money in the Bank briefcase to take the championship away from Bryan mere moments after his big win.

The home burglary is just one in a series of unfortunate events to hit Daniel Bryan since last summer. In addition to being robbed, being surgically repaired and being stripped of the highest title that the WWE has, Bryan has also been rumored to have lost his push, another industry term meaning that he will not get another chance at the championship for a while. Daniel Bryan is known as the father of the popular “Yes Movement,” which is a series of “yes” chants, with fingers pointed in the air. The Yes Movement has transcended wrestling and has shown up at other sporting events, per a story in the USA Today, in recent months.

Daniel Bryan is expected to make a full recovery from his surgeries.
