Hilary Duff Announces New Single ‘Chasing The Sun’

Hilary Duff said she was working on her comeback, and it looks like she wasn’t lying! The former Disney channel star has been teasing fans for quite some time now with clips and photos of her in the studio, and it has been driving fans wild with anticipation. Well it looks like the wait is finally over! Yep, that’s right! Hilary Duff has announced a new single and a new album that is set for release in the fall!

According to E! News, Hilary Duff signed with RCA Records this past Wednesday. Hilary, 26, has been out of the music industry for seven years, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t excited to make her comeback!

“I couldn’t be more excited to join the RCA family!” Hilary told E! News in a statement. “I love my team there and feel so lucky to be in the company of their talented artists. I came to them with my vision for the album and it has been a real labor of love, but something I am so proud of.”

“Chasing the Sun” is the first single set to be released on July 29, which is the same day that the music video for the single is set to debut on VEVO. E! News reported that the song was written by Colbie Caillat, Jason Reeves, and Toby Gad. The full album is set to release sometime in the fall, and Hilary said she is very proud of this new piece of work, according to Us Magazine:

“I took a break from music for quite awhile, but it gave me the power to choose my next steps carefully and I’m really proud of the album I’ve made. ‘Chasing The Sun’ is a light and fun summer song that I hope helps people to feel a little more carefree.”

Hilary Duff turned to music following her successful run in the Disney Channel series Lizzie McGuire. She was known for her pop and dance-oriented sounds and she quickly rose up the charts with hits such as “So Yesterday,” “Come Clean,” and “Wake Up”.

VH1 reported that Ed Sheeran, the album’s collaborator, has said that Hilary Duff’s new album is trading in her pop sound for a more “adult alternative acoustic sound,” and some critics are wondering if that is a good career move for the singer. Despite the change in sound, Hilary says she’s worked very hard on the new material and she is excited to release it to fans:

“‘Chasing the Sun’ is just a peek into my new album. I’ve worked very hard and the album is a great representation of the experiences I’ve had in my life and where I want to go from here!”
