Are Justin Bieber And Cody Simpson Prepping A Joint Acoustic Album?

Justin Bieber and Cody Simpson’s “cool acoustic project” is now being talked up a storm by their manager Scooter Braun and two artists. Is an album in the pipeline?

Justin Bieber and Cody Simpson’s “special project” may turn to be not just one song or even a few, but an EP or album.

That’s the impression Australian idol Cody (sort of) gave in an interview at the 2014 Young Hollywood Awards in Los Angeles, California on Sunday, July 27.

That same night, Cody presented Justin with a “Champ of Charity” award. Bieber promptly gifted the prize to 11-year-old Grace Kesablak onstage. The little girl was a Make-A-Wish participant living with a form of cancer whose wish was to feel like a celebrity.

Speaking to Hollywood Life at the event, Cody said of his collaboration with Justin:

“Justin and I have been in the studio for two weeks or so working on something pretty cool,” before adding, “It might be a little more than a song.”

Asked if the pair were preparing to unleash an album together, Simpson was cautious but didn’t say “No.”

“I don’t know yet, we’ll see,” he replied.

The 17-year-old explianed: “We’ve just been messing around the guitars and just working on a bunch of music.”

Of his and Justin’s long-term creative plans, Cody admitted: “We’re not really sure what it’s going to be yet, but you’ll hear something this year,” but did say it’s a, “real cool acoustic project.”

Vague but intriguing.

Whatever Justin and Cody are cooking up, it’s got mutual manager Scooter Braun hyped. After accompanying the pair to the YHAs, post-show the trio headed straight to a recording studio.

The following morning, Braun raved on Instagram: “Sometimes friends pick up guitars and one song leads into many.”

“A special project is coming and music that is going to shock people. Wow!!! Amazing lyrics, vocals, and songs!!,” the 32-year-old enthused, attaching a picture of Simpson and Bieber in the studio.

“Very excited. Been a long time coming. Taking it back to how it started… awesome. People haven’t heard them sing like this. Awesome!!! This one is for everyone. Shocking!”

Justin also got in the online action.

“A couple of guitars… great songs and great vocals. Get ready. Next level,” he tweeted on July 27, or possibly the small hours of July 28, “Taking it back to how I started.”

“Sometimes u pick up a guitar and magic starts to happen. Feels good to just make music. might be giving u something sooner than I thought.”

A little before, the Canadian posted: “Back in the studio finishing something special with my mate @CodySimpson…” then added: “Something special in the studio tonight.”

While Cody tweeted:

On June 11, Bieber and Simpson got together in an Los Angeles studio.

At the time, engineer-producer Josh Gudwin posted a photo on his social media accounts, writing: “These 2 wrote a beautiful one last night! @justinbieber @codysimpson.”

Of that session, Cody previously tweeted:

Since then, the “Brown Eyes” singer live-streamed in a studio while working on new music, and also announced a “special collaboration project” with unspecified duets.

Earlier this month Cody, tweeted about “big things on the way” and Instagrammed photos of himself and Justin jamming on guitars.

The Biebs posted the same picture at his Instagram.

Gudwin posted another perspective.

Bieber’s tour musical director and guitarist, Dan Kanter, was also on the session.

At the time, he tweeted:

“Great vibe in the studio tonight. Excited about this new music we’re writing.”

Three days later, Justin and Cody hit the studio on July 25, according to their social media postings.

Which bring us to the pair’s post-YHAs studio date. Those sessions are stacking up, along with a building curiosity to hear what’s got Cody, Justin, Scooter and the rest of their camp so “stoked.”

As yet there’s no date on when the “cool acoustic” special project drops, but we’re officially all agog.
