Mercy-Fitzgerald Hospital Shooting: Pennsylvania Hospital On Lockdown [Breaking]


A Pennsylvania hospital remains on lockdown after at least three people were reportedly shot at the Mercy-Fitzgerald Hospital. The shooting took place at the Sister Marie Lenahan Wellness Center on the hospital’s campus in Delaware County.

An emergency call from the Philadelphia hospital to 911 dispatchers noted that a doctor had been shot. Local police have not yet confirmed that one of the Mercy-Fitzgerald Hospital shooting victims is a physician. One Sister Marie Lenahan Wellness Center shooting victim was transported to the trauma center at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania nearby, according to the local NBC affiliate.

The alleged shooter has been taken into custody. A large police presence, including a SWAT team, remain on the scene at the Pennsylvania hospital.

Mercy Fitzgerald is part of the Conshohocken-based Mercy Health SystemMercy Health System, which also includes Mercy Philadelphia Hospital in West Philadelphia, Nazareth Hospital in Northeast Philadelphia, and Mercy Suburban Hospital in East Norriton, Pennsylvania, according to Biz Journal.
