Newsflash: Meagan Good isn’t replacing Kerry Washington on Scandal. In other words, fans should take a deep breath and remember that the world isn’t coming to an end.
Once again, it seems quite a few people were completely duped by one of those so-called “satire” sites that love to get people all twisted up. As always, take everything you read online with a grain of salt. You never know when someone is just messing with your head.
Since people simply adore Scandal and its star, Kerry Washington, more than a few folks were upset by news that Meagan Good was taking her place on the series. According to Cream BMP Daily, the website responsible for spreading the falsehood, Washington decided to part ways with the show after refusing to accept a pay decrease.
The website proclaimed:
“Actress Kerry Washington will be replaced on Scandal after refusing a pay decrease for the ending of the 2014 Season 4 due to an increase in production cost. Fans of the show are already speaking out on social media and promising to not support the show anymore, but will instead give ratings to horrible rivals including ‘Being Mary Jane’, ‘The Game’ and a couple of Tyler Perry shows.”
Cream BMP Daily also posted a “quote” from showrunner Shonda Rhimes regarding Meagan’s supposed casting. Given the nature of the comment, this should have clued most people in that the site was pulling the internet’s leg.
“Where Meagan lacks in acting she makes up in sex-appeal so we believe she’ll bring a larger male demographic to an already female driven show,” Rhimes allegedly explained.
However, the fine folks over at The Epoch Times report that there’s absolutely no truth about Meagan Good’s involvement with the drama. After digging around the website for a few minutes, writer Jack Phillips uncovered the following disclaimer:
“All reports and other information on this page may or may not be 100% accurate. It’s not news, it’s entertainment. All other comments are my personal opinion, but try not to take the [expletive] seriously and come at me… because I will and do sue.”
Of course, this didn’t stop people from getting really worked up about Meagan Good replacing Washington on Scandal. Check out these Twitter reactions.
At least there was one voice of reason on the micro-blogging site.
