80-Year-Old Homeowner Shot Pregnant Intruder: ‘I Shot Her Twice, She Best Dead’

An 80-year-old homeowner from Long Beach, California is being charged after he shot an intruder twice in the back as she fled from his property, despite the fact that she informed him she was pregnant.

Tom Greer decided to take action when he was pounced upon in his home by a man and a woman on Tuesday. When he grabbed his.22-caliber Smith & Wesson revolver the intruders fled in a panic, but as the woman was quite heavily pregnant they couldn’t flee fast enough.

Following Mr Greer’s detailed account of the shooting, in which he claims the woman was running away down an alley, he is being investigated by law enforcement. He told NBC Los Angeles:

I walked in on them and they downed me, they jumped on me in the hallway. The lady didn’t run as fast as the man so I shot her in the back twice. She’s dead.. but he got away. She says “don’t shoot me, I’m pregnant, I’m gonna have a baby” and I shot her anyway. I shot her so that’s going to leave a message on his mind for the rest of his life.

And it seems Mr Greer has no regrets about the incident as no trace of remorse can be detected in his words. He went on to suggest that the pregnant intruder was “best dead” and that, as such, his actions were justified: “She was dead. I shot her twice, she best be dead… (The man) had run off and left her.”

The Long Beach Police Department, who is investigating the incident, have neither confirmed nor denied whether the woman was shot in the immediate vicinity of the property, or if she was shot a bit later down an adjoining alleyway. That fact could make all the difference when it comes to the police building their case against Mr. Greer.
