James Rodriguez — or simply James, as he calls himself — led Colombia to its first World Cup quarterfinal in history, earning the admiration of peers, fans, and critics. The young striker captured the world’s imagination with his seemingly cool performance under pressure and enthusiasm in celebrating his goals.

Prior to signing with Real Madrid, James had to undergo a thorough medical examination at the Sanitas Clinic in the northern suburb of La Moraleja. James joins football stars Cristiano Ronaldo (his idol), Karim Benzema, Gareth Bale, and the latest addition to Los Blancos, German Toni Kroos.

With the addition of James, Real Madrid will have a formidable squad ready to battle across town arch rivals, Barcelona, who themselves have added to their ranks. Barca’s lineup includes Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Luis Suarez, who is currently serving a four month suspension by FIFA for biting Italian defender Claudio Chiellini during the 2014 World Cup round of 16.

“I’m very happy,” James said after his medical examination was completed. “Everything went well.”

Real Madrid has confirmed the $108 million deal with AS Monaco, for James’ transfer. The Colombian star will be introduced to fans at the Bernabeu on Tuesday (doors open at 7 pm local time), and he is expected to keep his number 10. Some apparel outlets are already offering his new jersey for purchase.

James Rodriguez is having a dream summer, not only signing with his favorite team Real Madrid, and playing alongside his most admired footballer, Cristiano Ronaldo. He also earned the World Cup Golden Boot, after scoring six-goals in the tournament and to top it all, on Monday FIFA selected his goal against Uruguay in the round of 16 as the best goal of the 2014 World Cup.
