Avril Lavigne Suing Concert Promoter

Avril Lavigne is suing a concert promoter over a payment dispute for a concert she performed in New York City last year. Lavigne did the performance expecting a hefty $500,000 paycheck. Apparently, Avril only received the first part of the payment and is still waiting for the rest almost a year later.

TMZ reported that the punk rocker is suing 2VLive, the promotion company that live streamed her New York gig, for the majority of the $500,000. The company allegedly agreed to pay Avril Lavigne half a million dollars to perform a New York concert on September 25 and make various promotional appearances. 2VLive was expected to pay Lavigne in three installments of $125,000, $300,000 and $75,000. Avril only received the first payment, meaning she is still entitled to $375,000.

The company 2VLive has a Facebook page and a Twitter feed, but no official website yet. The domain 2VLive.com is registered but not developed, which could simply be because the company is just starting. That would explain why Lavigne hasn’t received her payment yet. Or it could be a sign that the company is having financial troubles.

In addition to the concert payment, Avril Lavigne also agreed to work with an affiliate of 2VLive on a video greeting card project. Avril was never paid for that either. The company promised Lavigne 15 percent of the profits from the greeting cards, none of which she ever received.

The lawsuit documents were filed by Avril Lavigne at a court in Los Angeles, according to The London Free Press. The suit is 23 pages long. Lavigne is suing with intent to recoup the money and be compensated for her losses from time spent on the concert and during promotional appearances.

This is not the first bit of drama Avril Lavigne has gotten herself into lately. There have been lots of rumors going around about her relationship to Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger, including cheating allegations and talk of divorce. You can read more about Avril Lavigne’s relationship here.

Lavigne has also been getting a lot of criticism lately for her poor taste in music videos, having released an arguably racist video for her song “Hello Kitty.” You can watch Avril’s video below. The song was also parodied by a YouTuber named Tess Paras.

What do you think about Avril Lavigne’s lawsuit? Does Avril deserve the money, or should she just get over it and enjoy the money she made off her seemingly racist music video? Let us know in the comments.
