Even If You’re Rich, You May Not Want To Eat These Incredibly Expensive Foods [Video]

With food prices reportedly on the way up, and Americans all over the country griping about the high cost of eating, please allow us to put things in perspective for you. The price you pay at Whole Foods, or Trader Joe’s, or Safeway, for that matter, is nothing compare to the foods you’re about to encounter in this video, from our friends at BuzzFeed.

Now, we have to tell you, this BuzzFeed list isn’t even comprehensive. It does not include, for example, saffron — the world’s most expensive spice at $2,000 per pound — or the Japanese Yubari Melon, a unique, genetically engineered fruit that’ll set you back ¥2,000,000 — that’s over $19,700 at today’s exchange rates. For one melon.

Nor does this video mention specialty restaurant creations such as the $1,000 “Golden Opulence Sundae,” made with actual gold leaf or Chef Domenico Crolla’s Pizza Royale 007 — a pizza loaded with caviar and lobster, marinated in cognac, and topped with other delicacies that’ll cost you $3,000. No word on whether Chef Crolla serves it by the slice.

Or even the recent Starbuck’s concoction that went for a relatively affordable $60, but which still holds the record for most costly drink ever served at the coffee chain.

But the real question about the foods in this video is — would you actually eat any of these obscenely expensive foods?

Check out this video of food with the world’s highest prices and let us know what, if anything, would appeal to your palate. Assuming you’ve recently won the lottery, of course.
