Minnesota Vikings Coach Mike Priefer Told Chris Kluwe That Gays Need To Be Rounded Up And Nuked

Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Priefer probably wins the prize for making the most inflammatory comment that would upset the LGBT community. The NFL team claims a “single homophobic statement” involved him telling former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe that homosexuals need to be rounded and nuked.

In a related report by The Inquisitr, after Kluwe was released from the Vikings he claimed the NFL team fired him over his very public gay rights advocacy. While most these events took place over half a year ago, Kluwe sued the Vikings recently, claiming in his lawsuit that he suffered from religious and sexual orientation discrimination, which has become a hot button topic since Obama’s executive order specifically targeted that issue.

You almost have to wonder if coach Priefer had been watching way too much Aliens, which has the famous quote: “Nuke the entire site from orbit — it’s the only way to be sure.” After Kluwe made his allegations, the Vikings made their own internal investigation and they reported there was one at least one confirmed instance where Priefer made this comment:

“We should round up all the gays, send them to an island, and then nuke it until it glows.”

But Priefer does not have to worry about saying, “Game over, man! Game over!” The Vikings only punished their coach with a three-day suspension.

The Vikings had hired former chief justice of the Minnesota Supreme Court and a former federal trial attorney to conduct an investigation into Kluwe’s allegations that former head coach Leslie Frazier had pressured him into stopping his public support of gay marriage. Priefer “vehemently denied” Kluwe’s claims and the investigators determined the reason the punter was punted from the team was due to poor football performance:

“We… did not find sufficient evidence to establish that members of the Vikings organization attempted to discourage Kluwe from engaging in marriage equality or equal rights activism or that the Vikings harbored a homophobic hostile work environment. The investigation materials support that the Vikings released Kluwe for football performance reasons and not his views on marriage equality.”

Assuming the allegations over the “single homophobic statement” are true, do you think Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Priefer received a fair punishment?
