Mom Convicted Of Hot Sauce Torture On 7-Year-Old After Scenes Aired On Dr. Phil

An Alaskan mother of a 7-year-old boy was convicted this week of using hot sauce to torture her son. According to testimony Jessica Beagley, 36, squirted hot sauce into her sons mouth and made him take cold showers so she would be picked for an episode of the Dr. Phil Show where the abusive scenes eventually aired to a national audience and lead to her arrest and conviction.

Sentencing has not yet commenced however she could face a fine up to $10,000 and a maximum of one year in prison based on the judges sentencing ruling.

During her defense Beagley’s attorneys argued that she “was doing the best she could” and said she was using the forms of punishment she chose because the boy had “emotional problems.” The prosecution painted a very different picture, noting that Beagley had tried to get on the show before but was denied access.

Attorney’s for the prosecution said:

“There is no reason in the world why someone has to hurt a child to get on a reality show.”

Dr. Phil also gave transcribed testimony in which he said the mothers actions were “absolutely outrageous. It is over the top, it is abusive.”

I never thought I would admit it but there really are talk show guests more crazy than Jerry Springer or Ricki Lake visitors.

Do you think Jessica Beagley should be given the maximum fine and one full year in jail, I personally don’t believe those punishments are enough given her attacks on a very young defenseless child.
