Queen’s Guard Plays ‘Game Of Thrones’ Theme: Totally Nails It

The Royal Queen’s Guard launched into their own version of the Game of Thrones theme song and completely nails it. Recently posted to Rolling Stone, this video is quickly taking off and becoming viral across YouTube:

The video above, which was filmed by an onlooker, shows the Queen’s Guard meticulously playing the theme song from the Emmy-nominated HBO series that has taken the entire world by storm. It would appear that even Her Royal Highness is a big fan of the show.

This is not the first time that the Game theme has been attempted. Some other popular versions would include this ’80s electronic sound, or this Creole catfish jazz version, or this one-woman vocal styling.

The original Game of Thrones themes song was composed by Ramin Djawadi, who also has worked as a composer for several major film and TV shows, including Iron Man, Clash of the Titans, and The Strain. Who knew that the Game theme would become so popular that it would be covered by so many different people and musical groups from all walks of life?

The Queen’s Guard performing the theme outside of her Buckingham Palace residence comes just a few weeks after the Queen graced the set for the filming of Game of Thrones in Belfast, Ireleand. People magazine reported on the event back in June. During her visit to the set, the 88-year-old monarch (who recently celebrated her birthday in South America) got a tour of the set, including a look at the sword-covered seat of power, known as the Iron Throne.

While touring the set, the Queen did decline the opportunity to sit in the throne, but she took home a miniature replica as a memento. During her tour, Her Majesty got to scope out the armory, costume design and storage, and sprawling sets.

In related news, one of the stars of Game of Thrones,Kristian Nairn recently announced that he will be embarking on a professional DJ circuit throughout Austria to start in late August. The six-show stint has been aptly titled “Rave of Thrones,” and all guests are encouraged to turn up in their finest velvet garb and get ready to rave to their medieval heart’s content.
