Lana Del Rey On The Cover Of ‘Rolling Stone’

Pop star Lana Del Rey is making her debut on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine this Friday.

The issue depicts the singer wrapped in white sheets and cuddling with a gray cat. The photo of Del Rey was taken by photographer Theo Wenner, who has done many portraits of famous people. The cover describes Lana Del Rey as “The Saddest, Baddest Diva in Rock,” which is a reference to Del Rey’s seemingly suicidal tweets that she’s been posting lately. Lana has claimed she is going through a “dark period” in her life at the moment. Read more about that here.

According to Rolling Stone, Lana didn’t even want to finish the shoot or do the interview for the magazine. She was convinced that there weren’t enough interesting things for her to talk about.

“I’m not sure if they should run this story,” Del Rey said to Rolling Stone senior writer Brian Hiatt. “I feel like maybe we should wait until there’s something good to talk about. You know? I just wish you could write about something else. There has to be someone else to be the cover story. Like, there has to be. Anybody.”

But Lana did find a few things to say about her current state of mind and the meaning behind her lyrics. “Well, I feel f***ing crazy,” Lana said. “But I don’t think I am. People make me feel crazy.” Lana Del Rey even brought up the touchy subject of her Saturday Night Live performance, which was considered one of the worst musical performances ever on the show:

“It wasn’t dynamic, but it was true to form,” Del Rey said. “Everyone I knew suddenly wasn’t so sure about me. They were like, ‘Maybe I don’t want to be associated with her – not a great reputation.'”

According to MTV.com, this is only the first time Lana Del Rey was on the cover of Rolling Stone in the United States. Del Rey was on the cover of Rolling Stone Mexico in January of 2013.
