Blake Shelton Recruits The Help Of Little Big Town As Advisers On ‘The Voice’

Blake Shelton has recruited the help of country music quartet Little Big Town to be advisers to his team in the upcoming season the NBC’s The Voice. The group, which consists of Phillip Sweet, Kimberly Schlapman, Jimi Westbrook, and Karen Fairchild have officially signed up to help the multiple award-winning (and multiple Voice team champion) Blake Shelton on the show, which premieres on September 22 this fall, People magazine reports.

In it’s seventh season, The Voice has helped launch the careers of several singing superstars. Since the first season of the show, Blake has helped coach the most winners overall, with a total of three wins under his belt. Adam Levine has contributed to the winning of two contestants, and Usher helped Josh Kaufman win last season.

Usher and Shakira are taking a leave of absence from the show, and Gwen Stefani and Pharrell Williams will take their places. As far as coach advisers for the rest of the crew? Adam Levine has recruited singer-songwriter Stevie Nicks, who has had success both with Fleetwood Mac and also in a solo career. Gwen Stefani has recruited her husband Gavin Rossdale, lead singer for the band Bush, and Pharrell Williams has yet to announce who he will have as a guest adviser. Whoever Pharrell picks, it’s certain to be good, considering the company he’s been keeping lately. Recently, Pharrell has been seen hobnobbing with Quincy Jones and is a longtime friend and collaborator of Charlie Wilson, formerly of The Gap Band.

Little Big Town’s claim to fame is having strong four-part harmonies and alternating lead singers dependent upon the song. Founded in 1998, the group struggled to make their mark in the country music scene, but their star rose quickly with the release of their album The Road to Here which they recorded on the Equity Music Group label, a label that is owned by country music megastar Clint Black. They have racked a number of professional awards and nominations since their single “Boondocks” took off. Their single “Pontoon” won the Single of the Year award at the Country Music Awards, while the Academy of Country Music awarded the group the award for Top New Vocal Duo/Group in 2006.

Little Big Town is releasing their sixth studio album in October, which is titledPain Killer, the Taste of Country reports. The debut single, “Day Drinking” from the album was released earlier this month and charted at position 32, the highest ever debut for the group. Fans will, no doubt, get a taste of Little Big Town and their new material, as they will likely perform during their season seven showing on The Voice.

In the past, Blake Shelton has recruited help from Cher, Michael Buble, and Sheryl Cole to name a few.
