Rosie O’Donnell Excited for OWN Show, Talks Details

Posted: August 21, 2011

Rosie O'Donnell

Actress, Comedian and former talk show host Rosie O’Donnell revealed this week that she’s excited to start filming for her new talk show that will broadcast on the Oprah owned network OWN.

Speaking about The Rosie Show O’Donnell revealed:

“It will be one celebrity per show, not three or four making the rounds doing promotion,” and “We’re going to have a lot of entertainment and comedy, of course, because I’m funny, right?”

Speaking about returning to television Rosie said her decision was easy because:

“I am the mother of four, and frankly, they’re teenagers, and that’s the reason why I’m going back to work.”

While details are still pretty sparse about the first episode and the format in general, she did revealed that the first celebrity she would like to have is someone she “fell in love with” revealing that person to be ”Russell Brand… who is absolutely genius.”

Speaking to EXTRA Rosie explains that this show will be different from her previous because she’s, a little older and therefore a little wiser and therefore viewers will “see a more mature, evolved, I think a more happier person now.”

She also says social media will be combined with old media, providing a hybrid talk/reality TV show.

Here’s a video of Rosie O’Donnell talking about the show:

Considering she use to compete with Oprah Winfrey it will be interesting to see her on Oprah’s network.

Will you be tuning in to check out Rosie O’Donnell?

“The Rosie Show” debuts in October on OWN.

I hope this is a bad dream!

  2. I can't wait! I think she's smart, hilarious, and beautiful (inside and out). If you don't like her don't comment, and you certainly don't have to watch.

  3. The whole "OWN" network is a bad dream, and (so far) a ratings failure. As far as Winfrey herself…barf.

  4. And considering it is to be yet ANOTHER vacuous celebrity fest…ye gods…

  5. @Brock Hare….I can't stand that mean spirited bully and I have every right to comment. She is NOT worth watching and she is certainly not funny. Maybe you should up your standards a bit cuz Rosie is a loser and a has been. Yuck to her!

This stupid b*tch is hated by most of the gay community including me. Her marriage was a SHAM. First Oprah is making a BIG MISTAKE giving this woman or 'maybe it's a man' a talk show of any kind. Secondly, cable has one-tenth the viewers of regular tv.. She is just not worth it.

I'ts sad to say that she is only after the money and Oprah is worth about 2 billion dollars. WHY NOT RETIRE AND TRAVEL THE WORLD WITH HER GIRLFRIEND GALE

just leave the lesbianism out of the show.

really? …that's how I feel about the jerseys and kardashians, so I know how you must feel

  13. I just threw up….

  14. Sasquatch had her own talk show, she was on the view. She was a hack standup. Those that think she is funny must have a brain tumor. All she has ever done was talk, and that makes her an expert to discuss real life? I would rather have another root canal then EVER hear her voice again. Can I get a Mooooo?

  15. It would be nice if Oprah would stop lying and come out of that walk in closet.

  16. thats how I feel about Hollywood morons period and thier followers.

not any different and better than watching all the cr-p, with the reality shows that are around.

Frank, I'm certain that you aren't the voice of the Gay community. I for one love Rosie and can't wait for her show to start. She is very smart, funny, and entertaining. Obviously you have a problem with her and to that I say to each his own but please don't speak for "most of the Gay community" because you don't know that many people.

  19. I was really wanting to meet this "Frank". I've never known ANYONE who has (as a conservative estimation) 300,000,000 friends. I'm IMPRESSED, to say the least! How do you keep track of everyone? More important, how did you get all their opinions regarding Rosie? You must have a very sophisticated voting system. You should share this with the U.S. government. We seem to have flaws in ours.

  20. You might not want to watch her third show then. I read somewhere that she was going to give live lesbian demonstrations. I mean, it's up to you… I'm a little modest and squeamish about such topics so I've decided not to tivo that episode.

  21. I think Rosie's love affair with the media has long since passed. I for one will not be watching.

  22. I think that there are certain types of men who hate any celebrity who isn't thin enough to please their taste in a woman's shape regardless of their talent or relevant contribution to the health and entertainment of the viewers who gleen valid information and soulfulfilling entertainment. I am one of the long time viewers who do as such when it comes to enjoying both Oprah and Rosie ever since I first heard and saw them speaking. Both talented, healthy minded and together women who achieved success beyond the dreams of most others regardless of their backrounds. I have missed Rosie and treasure each time I see her on a TV set for any reason. And Roseann Barr was and is another fave of mine that men bash on for no good reason. Women don't complain about men on TV that do not turn us on because of their voices not being soothing or sexy enough for us so why should men complain when women are not the ideal shape for their minds to get turned on? Women being auditorily stimulated and men being so visual. And the Gay issue is a nonissue and needs to be as wrong as segregated water fountains were! I am so grateful that Rosie has her own show again because, she is so talented and I hope she does plenty of talented showcase numbers like Carol Burnette's show used to allow her to do as this is how I see Rosie. Another version of Carol Burnett. Simply amazing! And when Rosie speaks about valid issues that are political and correct about protecting human rights, children's rights, family rights, animal rights she gives a voice to ME and many other people who want to say the same things she is saying! She spoke about Faheem and his brother and the many other children who were tortured and killed and got less attention then the case with a woman who had a face and figure for a playboy spread, it makes no sense that a certain look should rule the airtime! I had that look before and I had a round body too and I was treated unfairly based on that look also. It is not right and media should give equal attention to all types of people and cases and there should be a fair reporting act that dispells gag orders so the news can be fairly reported to protect all the children and families from harm regardless of the powerful companies or organizations and what they want to have happen. OWN network is our big chance for more truths to be heard on issues that concern families the most. I would like to see other tv shows and networks show more real people on TV like Britain does. I want to see less "perfect younger looking people" and more people who look the way it is in real life and hear their musical abilities too. The new look should be "REAL".

  23. Ya know, I didn't much like Rosie while she was going through her loud mouthed, "difficult" period a few years back…but people change and it looks to me like she's worked through a lot of her issues, so I'm willing to keep an open mind and give her a chance.

so what knid of entertainment is she going to feature? How to eat a burger in 3 bites? how to wipe a double face with a single napkin? Look shes not funny, only mildly entertaining and why oh why is any kind of air time awarded to this no talent he/ she?

  25. The "mouth" cost her a lot of money, now she's "seen the light" and understands that being an obnoxious smart ass doesn't work well, better to be funny and you can still make a point.

  26. Glad to see that picture. Always helps me stay on my diet.

  27. What a joke!

Thank God I have control of the on and off button….. It will remain OFF! I thought Oprah was smarter than that! No wonder her network is struggling….. It's all down hill now!

  29. No one wants to see this crackhead back on the air…. Things have been so nice and calm without her.

  30. YUCK, well you cant fix stupid.

  31. Seriously? Rosie couldn't hack it on TV before, because a majority of people do not like her. I could care less if she is gay, as I have many gay friends. She is just loud, rude & not the brightest bulb in the bunch. It's Oprah's station, she can run it as she pleases, but I won't watch it. Rosie should be pretty excited, to have a friend who owns her own TV station, how else could she get back on TV. Evidently Oprah doesn't care if anyone watches it. Just my opinion people.

  32. Further Proof that the divine Ms. Oprah who has lived 1/3 of her life without getting married is partially responsible for the ills that we face as a nation and for the garbage that fills our television networks. Here is a woman (Oprah) who started as a trash talk show who became a billionaire because people told her she sounded genuine. She is a multi-deist anything goes, anything for money liberal.

Now let's move to Rosie O'Donnell.

Other than Jeneane Garoffalo, there is not a more hideous example of media than Rosie. She is a outspoken lesbian with an agenda for transforming America away from its moral base to an anything goes, ultra liberal society. She cannot control the media, so she gets angry. She cannot control the people, so she gets angry. She hates God, so she is angry. She cannot control her weight so she is angry. Bottom line – she is just angry.

Do we really need part III of this trainwreck coming to TV again. Only Oprah would send a loser like this to her network.. What's next Bernie Madoff's talk show. Casey Anthony's talk show. Satan's talk show… Nah.. We already have that with Bill Maher and that no nothing Alan Colmes…..

The USA is doomed when our media is contolled with ultra left wing society destroying people like Oprah.. Her Billions are proof that "The Love of money is the root of all evil."

Rosie, I pray that your show is cancelled quickly and that you fall to your knees and repent of your sins and evil ways. Only Jesus Christ can forgive you and if you repent and turn away from your evil before you die you can still inherit the grace which you so deeply need.

  33. All I have to say is REALLY?

  34. The woman is mean and hateful.

  35. In thought we were rid of that fat ass bull dike onc and for all, but I guess not! Well, ifor one, won't be watching {unless we can get The Donald"""} to put her in her place!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  36. I applaud your wisdom on keep an open mind about Rosie. I just never realized her loud mouth, "difficult" period as you called it, was just a certain length of time. I have always seen her as a loud mouthed person, who usually doesn't think before she speaks. She very often spews hate. Just remember that people do not just change their personalities.

  37. Don't perverts have ant shame?

  38. Once a lessy always a lessy!

  39. Laura, you are one sick puppy!

  40. she is boring and yesyerday's news! may she find a job at a waffle house!

  41. No worries, I won't watch. But my question is, Are we speaking of the same person here?

  42. Congrats Paul! I couldn't have said it better muself!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  43. LOL… Apparently we don't agree on Rosie.

  44. You should really learn to assert your thoughts… I feel you are probably pushed around a lot because you can't say what you think. Correct me if I'm wrong, you don't like Rosie? I'm still unsure how you feel about Oprah and Janeane Garoffalo??!

  45. promoting an ass backward faggott to the public shows how stupid and gay lesbo oprah is.chicks with dicks should not rule the world.not even hillary clinton the biggest packer of em all.

  47. Mike Byelick
    Aug 21, 2011

Wiser? the lady is a nutjob.

  48. It isn't her sexuality that bothers me. It's her politics. She is so far left that she condemns Christians, says that 9-11 was an inside job of the Bush administration, thinks we can't say anything against the extremist Muslims, and on and on. She is very UN likable.

  49. John Wood

not to worry I won't watch.she showed her true colors on the view

  50. Best wishes rosie good luck on your new show.

She is gay and it is an abomination in God's eyes, I personally will not watch her because of her ugly lifestyle. As far as Oprah and her network, she maybe doing a lot with her money that may be good, but in reality she is not one I would follow because of her liberal thought about life. Her following is big, but she is leeding many down the wrong road and for that I do not condone her or her TV show!

totally disappointed, I thought maybe it would be a slimmer rosie, but I guess not. she's still a fat slob.

  53. Rosie O Donut is a classless, fowl, pig! I hop she fails again. I agree with Donald Trump when it comes to this pig!

  54. I don't get the OWN network and I'm now an Ellen Degeneres fan anyway. Use to watch Rosie and loved her but she's no Ellen.

  55. Oprah has produced some quality television shows ( Oprah, Dr. Phil, Rachel Ray etc) and she did not become a billionaire and one of the most powerful voices in America with a trash talk show. She has worked hard to become the most poweful woman in television and has helped many people along the way. Although I don't agree with every aspect of her lifestyle, she is still the one and only OPRAH.

  56. I hope she chokes on a TACO!

  57. Rosie O'Donnell once stated, and even had this former talk show host on her first talk show, the late Mike Douglas who had his own talk show starting in the 1960's. She called him her inspiration. She enjoyed how he did his show especially the part where he had one guest host for an entire week. The concept she is bringing to her newest show is refreshing as it will be one guest who will remain in the show for its entire segments. This deserves a "look at" as it is a good design for a talk show.

  58. hey Frank, way to go! I guess even gays can come across like teabaggers and since you're a dude, it's probably one of your sexual practices!

  59. Rosie I can't wait until to come on the TV. I love when you had your own show. Don't worry you will do good being on TV. Love you Gerry.

  60. I gather from what Rosie has said about her beliefs is that she is a very caring person and doesn't want to have any group of people bullied for what they believe. If Rosie allows others the freedom to own their own beliefs then she is being very American to me. Christians have a huge reputation to uphold as being kind and oh so forgiving people. Yet, there ia a desire to judge anyone who doesn't think like we do.

  61. What if 911 was an inside job? It wouldn't be the first time our leaders did something horribly cruel and unthinkable to our OWN people. I hate to think it's true but, I have to keep an open mind because, how would I know for sure about something like that? I am also certain that Rosie stands for what America is suppossed to stand for "individual freedom and rights" and if you don't agree with me "a Christian" then YOU have that right and I will defend your right but, I do NOT feel condemned as a "Christian" by Rosie a born and raised Catholic even though I was born and raised Jewish and being of that race I think I would know what being condemned feels like.To Glenn and Gail, "Thank you" for commenting and thank you to "All" who liked what I had to say above!

I cannot wait! I used to love watching her. I'm not into her lifestyle, but she's not pushing it onto us. She just wants us to chillax and enjoy…and I, for one, plan to!

    Aug 22, 2011

Kim, the beauty of America is you are entitled to your opinion, yet so is everyone else! Go on and have a nice Rosie-free life. Just remember to smile.

Well, yeah, it's her lifestyle. What does that have to do with anything?

  66. Susan Clifford-Kagels
    Aug 22, 2011

Then don't watch. Heck, don't read about her, if it bothers you that much.

  67. Ronald Murphy
    Aug 22, 2011

you say this woman is smart she could not think her way out of a paper bag. how can you people stand up for some one that runs down this country every time she opens her mouth she is a waste of good air.

  68. Depends totally on the guests she chooses. Would love to see Susan Boyle for instance.

  69. You cannot speak for me or for anyone else for that matter. I you do not like Rosie thats fine but spreading hatred does not look good on you. Don't watch the show.

  70. I never understood her appeal…she's not funny..or attractive..inside and out..and a tyrant to work for.

  71. I won't even get started on this, but I will say that I totally agree with you, Mitzi…:-)

  72. were does this come from, frank? you definitely don't speak for me – i am a gay man, 25, and absolutely love Rosie – she'll be the main reason i tune in to own. what confuses me is why people spew hate against her when i've only see her be one of the bravest, most honest, and genuinely kind people in the media.

  73. I'm a huge fan of Rosie – she is one of the smartest, most genuinely kind and brave people in the media. When no one else is willing to risk being disliked because they'll be – god forbid – labeled a 'liberal', Rosie stood up for those who's voices were shut out of the media. when it came to iraq, 911, Bush, etc., etc., etc.. So for all of you neo cons who can't live in reality and hate anyone who doesn't fit your nifty little boxes, just don't tune in to Rosie's new show and turn up your fox news. Rosie is a rare gem – she's a person who cares more about the truth than her own ego… wish more people were like that!

Don't worry I won't and I won't be spending my money trying to subscribe to OWN. All of the shows will be a re-thread from Lifetime, PBS, TLC and such. Now don't get me wrong I love Oprah and her girlfriend Gale and her gay companion (we all know who I'm takin about) but she is making a BIG MISTAKE with he/she Rosie. I HOPE ALLOF U WATCH THE ROSIE SHOW RIGHT AWAY CAUSE IT SHOULD BE CANCELLED SOON. If any of u know this BIG FAT no tellen lesbian please tell I said" Hey" She should understand since Rosie O' Donnel is such a cow……now offence to cows
