NEC Nabs Netcracker

NEC is hoping to boost its business with the acquisition of software company Netcracker.

The purchase — coming at a cost of $300 million — will allow NEC to focus on its network sales. Currently, the Japan-based business sells telecom equipment, PCs, and cell phones.

Netcracker is known for providing operations support systems to communications companies. It will continue to operate out of its U.S.-based offices in Waltham, Massachusetts.
