Anthony Bourdain blasts Paula Deen’s brand of Southern cooking

Anthony Bourdain, best-selling author and host of No Reservations on the Travel Channel, apparently isn’t a fan of Paula Deen’s brand of Southern cooking. Well, that might be putting it a little more lightly than Bourdain chose to word it.

In an interview with TV Guide, Bourdain had this to say about Paula Deen:

“The worst, most dangerous person to America is clearly Paula Deen,” he said. “She revels in unholy connections with evil corporations and she’s proud of the fact that her food is f—ing bad for you.”

He didn’t stop there, though. He went on to say that if he were in her shoes, he would “think twice before telling an already obese nation that it’s OK to eat food that is killing us.” Oh, and “her food sucks.”

Naturally, Deen wasn’t very pleased with Bourdain’s comments. Speaking on Fox and Friends, Deen said she was “shocked” over Bourdain’s comments, especially considering she has “never met Anthony.” She added: “I don’t know if it was a publicity thing or if someone had just peed in his bowl of cereal that morning and he was mad.”

Deen wasn’t Bourdain’s only target in the TV Guide interview, though; he also blasted Guy Fieri (“I look at Guy Fieri and I just think, ‘Jesus, I’m glad that’s not me.'”), Sandra Lee (“I hate her works on this planet.”), and even Rachael Ray (“Does she even cook anymore? I don’t know why she bothers.”)

Bourdain may not have responded to Deen’s retort directly, but he did make an attempt at resolving the situation over on Twitter by saying: “Resolved: Next time I’m asked (for the millionth time) who the worst cooks on Food Network are, I’ll just shut up. Who cares?”
