Watch This Canine Cute Attack, As Puppy Comforts Older Dog Having A Bad Dream

This short video of a Golden Retriever puppy comforting an older, bigger dog — also a Golden Retriever — during what appears to be a bad dream, just may be the cutest dog video you’ll see this week.

Any dog owner or anyone who simply loves dogs will tell you — your dog is at its cutest during a dream. You know, those moments when your dog is fast asleep, yet the pooch starts barking or at least whimpering and twitching its legs back and forth in what looks like a running motion.

Yes, those are actual dreams, most researchers agree. Though dogs sleep more than humans, but in shorter intervals, they go through the same sleep cycles we do, including the deep REM sleep, which is when most dreaming takes place.

Why dogs tend to act out their dreams — or at least appear to act them out — with leg movements and vocalizations is not clear. For that matter, we also don’t know what a dog dreams about. Researchers theorize that dogs probably dream about chasing other animals. That’s what it looks like they’re doing when they appear to “run” with their legs while asleep.

But who really knows? The problem is, you can’t ask a dog what he just dreamt about.

Or, to be more precise, you can ask. But the dog can’t give you much of an answer.

Anyway, try explaining all of that to the puppy in this lethally adorable clip taken by dog owner Ariel Goodman, who explains, “One night I caught my new puppy comforting my older dog during a bad dream. They are quickly becoming new friends.”

That was back on March 3 when Goodman first uploaded the video. Since then, the video has been viewed on YouTube almost 2.2 million times. More, if you count the numerous re-posts by other users.

Once you spend the 53 seconds it takes to watch this charming clip, you’ll easily see how it became that popular.

Sweet dreams, Doggie!
