Dr. Dre Makes Surprise Appearance At Eminem’s Wembley Concert
Dr. Dre may have recently become a billionaire, but he’s making sure that people haven’t forgotten about him in the hip-hop community. The Good Doctor made a surprise appearance this weekend with Eminem in concert, and we’ve got the video.
Dr. Dre popped up during Eminem’s concert at London’s Wembley Stadium, and Dre performed alongside Em in front of 90,000 people. As he performed “Dead Wrong,” Eminem broke out of the song to address the crowd.
“When I say ‘Doctor,’ you say ‘Dre!'” Eminem commanded the crowd, and then Dre appeared. The two launched into old favorites, including a medley of “Still D.R.E.” and “Nothin’ But A ‘G’ Thang,” to the delight of the crowd.
Of course, Eminem and Dr. Dre also had to do a rendition of “Forgot About Dre,” the hit single that Eminem and Dre collaborated on more than a decade ago.
Dre’s been quite busy away from the rap world over the past few years. The rap icon has collaborated with Kendrick Lamar and others, yes, but most of his interest has been devoted to growing the Beats Audio line of headphones. That devotion has netted Dr. Dre no small amount of cash, as Apple bought the company just months ago for $3 billion, making Dr. Dre and his Beats co-founder Jimmy Iovine into billionaires – or close enough – overnight.
That means we likely won’t see Dr. Dre headlining any tours in the near future. Instead, Dre will be collaborating with the tech gurus at Apple, ensuring that the next iPhone, iWatch, and iPad will have the sort of cool cachet that Dre has ensured Beats has had since its inception.
