What Would ‘True Blood’ Look Like If It Opened Up Like Popular 80s Show ‘Cheers’

Over the last five to ten years, HBO has been dominating the premium channels. With shows like The Sopranos and Game of Thrones, it is no wonder they are on top. However, one of their biggest shows is True Blood. The show is so popular that it really elevated the careers of Anna Paquin, Stephen Moyer, and Alexander Skarsgard. Even here on The Inquisitr, we reported how the show should have ended sooner than right now with its upcoming last season, in which the previous season had a shocking twist.

With popularity comes parodies and fortunately, Wil Wheaton took the time to make a phenomenal parody of Cheers if it were set in the True Blood universe.

Uploaded on Wil Wheaton’s YouTube channel on July 9, 2014, the video titled If True Blood Were An 80s Sitcom… now has over 22,000 views. It is also listed in the most popular YouTube videos list as of the publication of this article. The video itself is cleverly done in which multiple scenes of witches and vampires being hung and killed along with the cast stylized like the intro video of the 80s sitcom are taken into account. What is most amazing is the parody of the song “Where Everybody Knows Your Name” which is, of course the theme song for Cheers. Clever lines that poke fun at the shows numerous scenes of gratuitous sex and violence make it very catchy.

For some, this video is a breath of fresh air. Despite our reports and statement of popularity, True Blood has gone downhill and their latest episode in the final season is showing it needs to end. Digital Spy reported that the final season is so lame, that it is actually scary. I will show a bit of my opinion and agree with the article because there is something about a show that shows a black woman crucified on a cross and having people explode in another person’s crotch come off as desperate.
