David Luiz Consoled By 9-Year-Old Fan Letter, Adorable

Who could ever forget Brazil captain David Luiz’s tearful face following Germany’s 7-1 crushing blow in front of their home fans? One 9-year-old fan felt so bad that she decided to take matters into her own hands and write him a heartwarming consolation letter.

Luiz was inconsolable after Brazil was crushed unexpectedly by Germany in the semifinals. It was hard for viewers to witness the Paris Saint-Germain defender’s dejected spirits.

Millions saw David Luiz’s usually exuberant personality take a turn, in what players have described as the darkest day of their lives. Perhaps the reason that it was so hard on Luiz is that he had taken over the vacant captain job, when Neymar was forced out of the World Cup and captain Thiago missed the match because of two yellow cards.

Nine-year-old Ana Luz watched as David Luiz offered his tearful apologies in a post match interview. The 27-year-old faced the nation after the heartbreaking loss:

“I just wanted to give joy to the people who suffer so much. Unfortunately we could not, sorry everyone, all Brazilians. I just wanted to see people smiling. Everyone knows how important it was for me. I wanted to see everyone happy. (Germany) were better prepared. It is a day of great sadness and a lot of learning too.”

After days of agony over was not to be and much self reflection, no doubt, Luiz shared a photo of the adorable letter sent by 9-year-old Ana Luz. The caption — as translated via Google — reads:

“Many thanks Princess Ana light, loved your letter! And many thanks to all Brazilians for all the support! I’ll never give up my dreams, and I will always strive to give back all that love I receive! God bless you all!

As you can see, the adorable drawing that accompanies the cute letter includes David Luiz with his signature afro. The Brazilian star is clearly a caring person and Ana Luz’s sweet letter struck a cord, so much so, that he decided to share on Instagram.

A translation of the 9-year-old letter to Luiz — provided by Mirror — reads as follows:

“Hi David Luiz,

My name is Ana Luz.

I saw all of the Brazil games in the World Cup and I liked it a lot watching you play.

I think that you don’t need to be sad because you played well and did the best you could. You were a great captain.

Life is like this, sometimes people lose and sometimes people win, but people only need to be happy.

David Luiz, you are my champion.

Ana Luz Penna Reale.”

Words of wisdom from a young 9-year-old fan to the inconsolable David Luiz after a humiliating loss that Brazil won’t soon forget. Brazil faces the Netherlands in the third place match on Saturday.
