Officer Raped, Killed Wife: New Details Regarding Joshua Boren Tragedy Emerge

New details are emerging regarding the incident where an officer raped and later killed his wife. The incident also left Joshua Boren’s two children and mother-in-law dead before he apparently turned the gun on himself. The investigation has uncovered some heartbreaking details regarding what led to the Boren family tragedy.

According to Deseret News, Kelly and Joshua Boren had been arguing via text the night before the murders. Kelly accused the officer of raping her on multiple occasions, details that apparently came from Joshua’s therapy sessions. Investigators have revealed that both friends of the couple and Boren’s therapist have indicated that Joshua had drugged his wife with Ambien multiple times and then videotaped himself raping her. It is reported that he had done this four or five times over the past couple of years.

No videotapes of the rapes were found in the investigation into the deaths. However, some writings from Joshua Boren were found and they “corroborate the allegation that he had drugged and raped Kelly,” the report from investigators details. The night before the murders, Kelly Boren texted the officer about the rapes. She said, “I hate my life because (of) you. You killed a part of me.”

The Las Vegas Sun reveals that Kelly also told her husband she planned to leave him and take the children. The two had already been separated for a while, but this seemed to be the point where she made it clear she had no intention of reconciling. She told him via text that “I don’t want to live in fear and hate and anger.”

The next morning, January 16, Kelly told him that she would take the kids, and it seems that was the catalyst for the officer killing his family. He reportedly didn’t live at the family home any longer, but regularly went by every morning to help the couple’s children get ready for school and preschool. That fateful day, however, he instead is said to have killed his family and then himself.

The investigation has revealed that Joshua Boren was 5 when his father committed suicide, and his mother got into drugs. She had multiple men around the house, and one allegedly abused the young boy. Boren is said to have harbored a great deal of anger toward his mother for not protecting him. He had been an officer with the Lindon Police Department for just three months when the murder-suicide took place. The investigation certainly provided a lot of answers regarding the officer raping and killing his wife, but the community is still shaken by the tragic incident.
