Prince George Nabs ‘Vanity Fair’ Cover Story: His Bouts With Colic And When He Might Get A Sibling

Prince George nabs the cover story of Vanity Fair magazine’s August 2014 issue. No doubt this edition will sell like crazy because a lot of things are revealed by Katie Nicholl, who speaks with a number of palace insiders. Nicholl is known for being well-connected with the British royal family.

Vanity Fair just announced that it delves into the world of Prince George and touches on behind-the-scenes episodes that Kate Middleton and Prince William have endured in the last year. The magazine is commemorating George’s first birthday.

Vanity Fair writes in its introduction to the August 2014 issue:

“As Prince George prepares to celebrate his first birthday, Vanity Fair contributor Katie Nicholl speaks to palace insiders about how the prince has become a media star, a style icon, and a P.R. triumph. Reporting on how their son has upended William’s and Kate’s lives, Nicholl gives a behind-the-scenes look at George’s first year, the search for their new nanny, the palace redecoration, and the family’s New Zealand and Australian adventures.”

The cover story takes a close look at the young prince’s bout with colic and how he wasn’t able to sleep through the night for months. The magazine says:

“Nanny Jessie Webb tried hard to get him into a routine, but the baby prince, who was still breastfeeding, was permanently hungry. Nicholl reveals that it was only in the new year, when Kate introduced solids, that George finally slept through the night.”

Prince William was very nervous about bringing his son along to Australia and New Zealand when he and Duchess Kate went on their tour in April. He was concerned about the “intense media interest,” tropical climate, and the incredibly long flight. A senior aide tells Katie Nicholl:

“George didn’t really suffer from jet lag—he settled down very quickly.”

Other topics contained in this exclusive piece include more on the redecorating William and Kate are doing to Kensington Palace, the struggle that the Duke and Duchess faced hiring a new nanny, and Kate’s photo scandal.

Even the George’s upbringing is laid out in the August issue. It explores how William and Kate make sure he’s raised like a normal child and even answers that burning question about when he’ll get a little brother or sister! Nicholl tells the magazine:

“As for speculation about when Prince George will have a sibling, Nicholl reports that there are rumors among the couple’s friends that they plan to try this summer.”

Prince George was last seen publicly on Father’s Day in mid-June while his father was competing in a polo match. People and all other major media sources reported on the candid appearance as the young prince was hard to keep up with.

The August 2014 issue of Vanity Fair with Prince George will be out July 15. The digital edition can be read on July 10.
